Great Anemones Wobbly and Agapanthus Pokora they always look very exotic to me. That trough is looking blooming Anne

So many lovely posts and photos throughout August. Lots of ideas for next year.

I felt summer was over but things seem to have come back here, maybe just because it's a long weekend. Smile

And I think the pumpkins might be ready?

Fantastic @Containergardener ♥️

ImprobablePuffin · 29/08/2021 15:14

What is the first picture @Containergardener the colours are beautiful

Containergardener · 29/08/2021 20:29

It's "Nostalgia" a hybrid tea rose. Smells lovely too. Bought it this year but had to cut right back as mildew attacked so pleased we've got some flowers this year.

I may have to buy another one or two roses next year, as such lovely flowers and bonus scent too! Recommendations for pots welcome!

WobblyLondoner · 01/09/2021 20:50

That's a gorgeous rose - I've not come across nostalgia before. Spent the weekend tidying up the back garden where there is still lots of colour - dahlias, crocosmia and persicaria being my favourites.

I planted out a new area in my front garden a few weeks ago. So exciting to do and preceded by much planning. Unfortunately a few of the plants were swiped overnight :( - a gorgeous salvia and some gaura.

But I can't let the £&@#€$ win so I've replaced them with something less obviously gorgeous. Did ponder planting the most spiky poisonous thing I could find but came to my senses...

Sweetpea1532 · 02/09/2021 02:26

@WobblyLondoner

That is horrible that some nut has swiped your plants! I am so sorry...the cheek!

AnneKipankitoo · 02/09/2021 07:22

That’s not nice @WobblyLondoner

echt · 02/09/2021 10:18

Here are two of my dendrobium speciosum AKA rock lilies, epiphytic orchids. They also smell divinely.

Hello again gardeners I dropped off the thread but wanted to come back to share some triumphs!

Hibiscus moscheutos “Planet Griotte Tangri” waited until I was back from holiday to bloom, and it is amazing. I only bought it this summer so wasn’t expecting too much in the first year but it has about 80 buds all over it so really excited to see how it does over the next few weeks!

And then this is a bowl of my vegetable harvest, aubergines, purple peppers and rainbow tomatoes. I just planted one veg bed this year as I don’t have my raised bed garden yet. So happy with this achievement in a small space in the first year. I roasted them all together in olive oil and ate them with some rigatoni. Delicious.

@WobblyLondoner I can’t believe someone stole plants from your front garden!!!! Actually dug them up??? What cheek!

@beautyisfoundwithin those lilies are stunning. Bet the smell is divine. I really want to try some pollen-free lilies (as I have cats).

LemonViolet · 04/09/2021 08:21

I have some beautiful thistle like plants that have appeared in the garden in my new house, very tall. Embarrassing to admit but I thought they were weeds at first but I’m very excited that I have a little bit of Scotland (my home) here with me in Wales ❤️

Thanks all for kinds words about my front garden losses. Yes, someone dug up three newly planted plants and just look them :(

They didn't have to come in to do it, just leant over the from the pavement. A lesson for me I guess about not having anything too nice right at the front. I'm hoping once things bed down they will be less tempting.

WobblyLondoner · 05/09/2021 13:54

But better sights in the back garden. The dahlias continue, as does the fabulous Eucomis & fluffy persicaria.

Stunning Rose @Containergardener! Love those colours.

I can't believe someone actually dug up your plants and stole them @WobblyLondoner! 😱 That's terrible. I don't think I'll ever cease to be amazed at what people will do. Lovely photos from the (safe) back garden!

Gorgeous Hibiscus @LemonViolet 😍

Great photo @AnneKipankitoo. Incredible trough too, so healthy and vibrant.

I've got more Lilies blooming (yes I have lots of them 😬 but of course, never too many 😂) DH declared last week that he thinks Lilies are his favourite - I thought well that's lucky then! 😂

Also a Dahlia that's proving very popular with the bees 🐝 I tried them from seed for the first time this year. I thought it would never work in a million years (normally I buy tubers) but I was persuaded by Monty Don on GW. Very glad I tried (even if half of them got eaten by my slug nemeses 😡)

Also hi 👋🏼 @Sweetpea1532, nice to see you on the thread again! I've been thinking about you and wondering if all was well as I haven't seen your name pop up in a while.

Also my first ever Waterlily which I'm ridiculously excited about. Bought as a bulb in Aldi for €2.99, I didn't have all that much hope it would work but I'm happy to be proven wrong! (Apologies to those who are not fans of fairy accessories in the garden, I love mine but I know they're not for everyone! 😉)

@beautyisfoundwithin
Thank you for your kind message...I've been busy with family things.
On another note, Oh My Goodness...I think you live in the Garden of Eden...Everything you grow is amazing! The Lilies are stunning and I don't even prefer lilies..I think that's because I've never seen any BEAUTY grown Lilies! And dahlias from seed? Truly amazing..it appears you are keeping the world's population of bees fed just like you did with your veg garden. You astound me ,Lady!

@WobblyLondoner
I hope your beautiful pinched plants have withered up and died in the hands of the stealers!🤨

Sweetpea1532 · 05/09/2021 17:16

@AnneKipankitoo
You're feeding the bee population, too! Such gorgeous colours

@applecatchers36
Lovely sights..so late in the year...is September turning out to be the new May?

AnneKipankitoo · 05/09/2021 17:17

Lovely photos @beautyisfoundwithin.
