Hello Suzy. Welcome and looking forward to seeing your photographs. Your garden sounds lovely! 😊🌱

Suzysunflower · 05/08/2021 13:34

Thank you AnneKipankitoo and catwithflowers - sadly there is no paper clip in my message box, I have been looking for it intensely (also asked my kids in case I was being stopped) but nope! I thought it was a browser problem so I downloaded the app - result! paperclip there. Hooray. Choose pic. Write post, click 'go'... and I get a message that because I am new I cannot post pictures, I guess in case I am spamming/perving, so I will just wait and comment on your lovely pics for a bit until I get given permission Smile

AnneKipankitoo · 05/08/2021 14:13

It will take a couple of days before you are allowed to post pictures.
I know. I deleted my account and re-registered . I was not able to post photos.

Doh! Wrong one!

AnneKipankitoo · 06/08/2021 07:16

Lovely, @Pottedpalm.

@AnneKipankitoo

Lovely, *@Pottedpalm*.
Thank you! The blue pot is one of several I planted for my daughter who just moved house and has a garden for the first time. It was fun transporting them 80 miles in the car 😄
Suzysunflower · 06/08/2021 07:41

I love the blue of the pot with the vivid yellows and oranges, Pottedpalm. I bet your daughter is delighted with them, I'd be! :)

OMG! it worked! First picture is March/April 2020, just at the beginning of lockdown, second and third picture is now.

we have:

  • cleaned up ivy/brambles and gave a good trim to lilac and other bushes
  • got rid of old sheds and put up a new one
  • put up new fence on left and painted it *put up the pergola with vintage style planters and planted climbing roses in 2 opposite corners
  • created new eating corner where old (white) shed was
  • used old bricks to make fire pit *made a bench as planting corner on left
  • cleared up the space around the rose and planted a new (very small) rose garden with clematis in large planters
  • put up bunting, mirror (low, where the sun never hits) and some more decorative bits and bobs
  • added more large planters with delphiniums, daliahs, lavender and nasturtium.

And this is it, really! My future plans are paving the eatingcorener at the back of the garden and maybe where the planing bench is, there is a lot of lawn and I think if we had more paved spaces we'd use the garden more, also th brambles and ivy are all in the corners so that would be a good fight against them.

And that's all really! If you have any suggestions on ideas on how to improve space you are very welcome :)

I'd add as all thing that the garden has a bit of a slope upwards.

AnneKipankitoo · 06/08/2021 15:18

You have done a lot !

CheerfulBunny · 06/08/2021 15:35

I found this lovely Bush Cricket when I was tying up my delphiniums earlier - it's really windy here and everything's flopping over. She's gorgeous though 😍

Suzysunflower · 06/08/2021 15:45

CheerfulBunny it's really windy here too, my delphiniums (delphini?) are getting horizontal

AnneKipankitoo, yeah classic 'lockdown blues' reaction: intense gardening! Now I am working permanently from home so hopefully I can improve and maintain next year too!

ImprobablePuffin · 06/08/2021 17:53

@Suzysunflower I'm also SE England. I've been documenting our disaster garden on Instagram (although I'm a newbie and prob using it all wrong) do you have a garden insta? Mine is @thesecretgardenfarm

beautyisfoundwithin · 06/08/2021 18:50

Love that idea for the Creeping Jenny @ImprobablePuffin! It looks really cute already, think it will look really impressive when it's a bit more established! I also love the teapot planter behind!! I tried some Creeping Jenny in a strawberry planter type container, and im quite pleased with how it's turned out, it's cascading down quite nicely and it grows super quickly!

Love your cat with flowers @catwithflowers! 😻

Welcome @Suzysunflower! Always room for one more! You've done a great job, and certainly achieved a lot already.

Love that blue container @Pottedpalm.

ImprobablePuffin · 06/08/2021 23:11

Thanks beauty I thought I should hang it up as people have told me how invasive creeping Jenny can be but I just think it's so beautiful. I'm so happy I found the gardening topic. It's so peaceful over here 🪴🥰

Suzysunflower · 07/08/2021 13:36

@beautyisfoundwithin, thank you Flowers I just noticed your candy striped flex - OMG - that is a thing of beauty!!!

@ImprobablePuffin, I'll have a look through my DH's insta, I look forward to it and I am sure your garden is gorgeous - the cage with the plant is really cute - very 'of the moment' - I do not have any social media, went on a detox in 2020 and still on a detox I guess Smile

beautyisfoundwithin · 07/08/2021 16:42

Thank you @Suzysunflower! More of it has opened up now, although it's not fully open just yet. However some rogue parts have decided to rebel and have changed colour! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lovely @Suzysunflower

Suzysunflower · 11/08/2021 09:17

Thank you @AnneKipankitoo I bought it this year so I am really happy about its growth also because I have read in different forums that Summer Song can be quite difficult.

AnneKipankitoo · 11/08/2021 09:49

It’s doing well👍🏻
