Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

Yes it has a very delicate perfume. It is ideal for a pergola as it is thornless. It grow about 5 feet a year but is easy to keep in check. It is one of the earliest flowering roses.

AnneKipanki · 26/04/2021 15:52

Sounds wonderful.

Glad you liked the bear story @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet...he was quite entertaining for over 2 hours...ate some, took a little kip and then ate some more..
He'd better not touch DDILs wild blueberries and strawberries or he'll be in big trouble.
No @AnneKipanki, I missed the bum-biting bear story...thanks for sharing 😂

applecatchers36 · 27/04/2021 14:44

Sweetpea my DS mind would be blown at the prospect of a bear casually visiting your garden for a couple of hours and having a nap 🤯
Would definitely make you you think twice about visiting outside toilets that's for sure 😂

Sweetpea1532 · 29/04/2021 04:30

@applecatchers36
Actually it's my DDILs garden...I wish it were mine instead of hers though since bears can be dangerous ....eek! You're right! Thanks goodness for indoor plumbing...especially since last night her security camera caught an armadillo crawling across her drive!!!!Shock..that would wake even the sleepiest outdoor loo visitor forever. Does the UK have armadillo??? Yuck! They look prehistoric and completely ruin gardens! They dig everything up with their pointy little noses whilst looking for bugs..gives me the creeps just thinking about them. And I believe they are carriers of leprosy! So extra creepy. Meanwhile, DDiL found a Fringe tree in her garden that she didn't know she had. Didn't take a photo so I found one by googling

@AnneKipanki
I am so sad to hear about your deer! That is always such a shock to see.

applecatchers36 · 03/05/2021 08:18

Yes no native armadillos in the UK Sweetpea. Sorry to hear of the deer struck down AnneK, such beautiful wild creatures. Our kids always loved spotting them in the woods near my parents.

Would love to see your pics always need inspiration. Have spent the bank holiday weekend looking at gardening catalogues and planning 😂

Sweetpea1532 · 03/05/2021 19:25

@applecatchers36
What a fabulous way to spend a Bank Holiday weekend...
We are all looking forward to the results of your search....pressure is on now, Apple!Grin

Sweetpea1532 · 03/05/2021 23:50

Well, remember those mini Red Oak trees at DSs House? They may turn out to be a blessing because they had a huge thunderstorm and 3 trees are down...fortunately not on the house.

Must have been a powerful storm those look like mighty trees that have been felled...

AnneKipanki · 04/05/2021 07:06

😮 wow.

@applecatchers36
@AnneKipanki
They are mighty trees! The ground gets saturated from heavy rains, a wind blows up, and over go the trees.😭
Thank goodness they were not near the house...DS is getting 6 trees cut down tomorrow that are near the house.

Sweetpea1532 · 10/05/2021 18:38

Not much colour, but look who I saw sneaking a drink out of my fountain! It's supposed to be for birds only.....but this cheeky monkey didn't care one bit....I didn't have the heart to shoo him away...that was before I remembered about all the agave he and his mates have been chomping on...but, by then he'd had his drink and was off to his hole.Hmm

Your yellow roses are gorgeous...yellows are my favourite.
@AnneKipanki
Would you care for some more?Grin

AnneKipanki · 12/05/2021 08:46

😂

OP posts:
AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 13/05/2021 11:41

Wow @FLOrenze are your roses blooming already?
Mine did in late May last year, but it's been so cold here this year that I don't expect them to bloom until June.
I planted a row of peonies last year and I see buds, so fingers crossed. I know they can be tricky and can take years to bloom 😭

Great pictures @Sweetpea1532 and what a fabulous fountain/water feature. We do have squirrels here but I've only ever seen them when walking in the woods Smile

FLOrenze · 13/05/2021 12:40

The Rose is Banksaei Lutea which Is the earliest flowering rose. Not many roses flower in May, I think.It is such a good Rose as it never has any diseases. It is thornless so easy to prune. Just as well because it grows at a bout 8 feet each season. It is not like the usual ramblers which tangle up. It has a straight habit so ideal for fences and pergolas. Plus it is delicately perfumed.
