Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

Stunning spring colour Anne, the hellebore makes a lovely contrast against that blue sky

Those Azaleas are absolutely stunning @Sweetpea1532 😍 So bright and colourful. I have no idea where all my snow is coming from, it should be finished by now. We've had glorious hot sunny weather this weekend (I've even been wearing my gardening dress! 😉) but now another week of snow is forecast 😭 I do hope it's not true.

That's a lovely plant @FeltTipPenny, I've not heard of it before.

Gorgeous rich colours you've got there @AnneKipanki. I'd really like some Hellebores after seeing such lovely ones here.

Sweetpea1532 · 12/04/2021 02:57

@AnneKipanki
Beautiful perfect pansies..they bring up good memories of a hundred years ago....the drive up to my kindergarten was lined with pansies and they made me happy every day when we drove up.
Did you see the Master's tournament and the azaleas this weekend?
@beautyisfoundwithin
More snow?! Oh no! Have you checked to make sure you aren't in the Arctic?...I have a gardening dress, too!

Sweetpea1532 · 12/04/2021 02:59

@beautyisfoundwithin
I know I asked you before if you live in the Arctic....but are you SURE!

AnneKipanki · 12/04/2021 07:23

@florentina1 I was Googling earlier looking for small trees to get some height in my garden and amelanchier kept coming up. How long have you had yours, they're lovely. Do they look nice all year round?

florentina1 · 13/04/2021 21:24

I bought 2 of mine from Barcham Trees and 2 from telegraph garden shop. . When I bought them three years ago the 2 big ones were 15 feet and the smaller ones about 3 feet. They are quite slow growing.

My garden is 21 feet by 14 feet and I have a lot of trees.
4 silver birch
2 cotoneaster
2 Robinia frisa
1 rowan
4 Amelanchiers
7 pyracantha

One way to not be overwhelmed by trees is cut off the lower branches so that you get a lot of air around the tree. My medium layer is Acers,. Then the lower layers are ferns, Japanese anemome, grasses and sorbus cashmiriana. This provides interest all year round. For colour I weave gambling roses and clematis.

AnneKipanki · 14/04/2021 07:51

Fabulous @florentina1♥️💕

I forgot to answer your question about all round interest. They drop there’re leaves late November and pinkish new shoots arrive in February. Then white flowers for about 6 weeks followed by tiny black berries. The leaves stay green through summer but as autumn approaches they start to turn russet. They are wonderful then..

My tall Amelanchiers are under planted with Acers. One is Sango Kanu and the other Acer,Griseum. These real glow in the summer months when the Amelanchiers are green.

AnneKipanki · 14/04/2021 11:00

That sounds like a well planned garden @florentina1♥️💕💐

FeltTipPenny · 14/04/2021 18:01

@florentina1 Thank you! I love acers too.

Sweetpea1532 · 14/04/2021 23:30

@AnneKipanki
Your gorgeous bergenia don't even look real.....they remind me of some of my mum's artificial flowers she buys from charity shops to fill in blank areas of her gardens...Hahahalol...she's had the most beautiful light pink roses in bloom for 2 straight years nowEaster Grin

@florentina1
Your gardens look so serene and inviting...just lovely...I've only heard of pyracantha....we used to throw the smushy orangey red berries at each other when we were children( yes, we were cheeky monkeys!)
@selondongal...
I love your bleeding hearts and the baby pink pieris Easter Smile

florentina1 · 15/04/2021 07:40

Thank you for all the nice comments. Just over three years ago I was quite poorly. I loved my garden but it was getting too much for me. Planning the new garden kept me going through a difficult time. This is the old garden and the first year of the redesigned

I think they are unusual. I think they are advertised as ‘rare’ .
