I've totally just proved my point about being crap with a phone there Grin

beautyisfoundwithin · 12/08/2020 19:20

Wow, I've had a super busy few days and I've missed loads! Thank you for so many lovely comments about my Sweet Peas 😊

Gorgeous Lilies @DDemelza, I wouldn't have been able to resist either! And good luck with your Sweet Peas!

Loads of absolutely gorgeous Roses, which is no surprise on this thread! 😁

That monster courgette did make me laugh @catwithflowers 😂

The canoodling Rose also made me giggle! What an apt description!

That Dahlia is stunning @Noflora.

Lovely Petunias @RaptorInaPorkPieHat.

beautyisfoundwithin · 12/08/2020 20:05

I've been out all day so not had a chance to go out into the garden until now. Just had a little walk around and more of my Lilies have burst open.

Now sat outside with a cold glass of wine enjoying the heavenly scent of the ones I strategically placed near our table and chairs 👍🏼 Perfect 😊

So many beautiful pics, too many to comment on. They're all gorgeous, still have rose envy 😂 I have a iceberg busy rose, it was in a pot but the rain earlier in the year drown it 😢 (why do they do planters without drainage holes 💁🏻‍♀️) anyway, my dad planted it in the ground for me and I cut it right back and I'm happy to say it has spruced lots of new leaves and is even starting to bud !!

Forgot to post pictures 🙈🙈

It's a bit dark but the sunflower wall is starting to bloom. They aren't very tall but still lovely and cheery.

I'm also rather pleased with the yellow poppies.
The purple daisies died back and have had a second leap. And the red thing is some sort of lobelia I think.

What type of lilies are those, beauty? Exquisite colour!

I love the idea of a sunflower wall, @DrWAnker

Nothing v exciting here- mints and oregano with their tiny blooms, and a reflowering of the fuchsia that was sulking for a good month after I plonked it in its new hone.

I have that lobelia DrWanker : every time it gets too dry it keels over like a drunken sailor and needs a bucket of water to the roots. It then slowly rises up again!

beautyisfoundwithin · 13/08/2020 13:52

That's a great recovery @popgoesperfection, bet you're very pleased!

I love that Sunflower wall @DrWAnker!

@DDemelza the pinky one with the spots in the centre is a Stargazer, the darker one (it's actually much darker in real life) was one I bought on Groupon called Blue Wonder. I got it deliberately as it was supposed to be "incredibly tall" according to the description. It's supposed to grow to 6ft tall, in reality mine is about 30cm!! It's the shortest I have by far! 😂

The creamy yellow white ones I'm not sure though. It was a bag of bulbs I bought a couple of years ago from the reduced bin 😁

popgoesperfection · 13/08/2020 14:06

@DrWAnker that sunflower wall is stunning and a great idea!! If I had the space I would try that next year!!
I am @beautyisfoundwithin. I thought it was a gonner and had thought to myself I'll give it the rest of this year to see if it can recover. Then went out to check the plants one morning and there it was covered in leaves !!
Not a flower but want to show off my piccolo tomatoes starting to grow, grown from a seed out of a tomato from the supermarket 😀

@DrWAnker love the sunflower wall! I think they look really nice being that height. Gives a beautiful effect

DrWAnker · 13/08/2020 15:04

No chance of keeling over here with an over zealous Fireman Sam impersonator and usually much rain!
The sunflower wall was the kids garden project, I think there are about 30 in there.

Rookiegardener · 13/08/2020 15:15

Nothing new here. Just a few more dahlias, all different shades from pale yellow to dark orange.

Noflora · 13/08/2020 20:42

I'm glad to see all the dahlias. They were very out of fashion a decade or so ago, I am old enough to remember when they were popular in the last century and I have always liked them. Sunflowers are always a kid's favourite, but everyone loves a sunflower, a truly fun, happy plant/ flower.

I have two survivors today

A tiny mullein which has valiantly pulled through being repeatedly mown and now taken advantage of my laxness lull in mowing activities to spike and bloom Smile

Perennial sunflower who had to be turned out of his established position because I wanted the prime space for veg, but has come back from a tiny chunk of root which I just chucked into a corner of the back of the garden with a gung ho, itll sink or swim attitude. I'm not sure why I wasn't more careful and very please that he pulled through. His new home is sunnier so possibly a better spot in any case. SmileSmile

Very nice AnneKipanki , begonias just keep looking fabulous, I am amazed how long each bloom lasts, even in the extreme heat we had. Do you overwinter your tubers? What do you do? I've not done it before.

Pink theme today

Lovely, @Noflora . No , I don't overwinter them . I usually have Busy Lizzies but I could not get them .

Lovely @AnneKipanki!

I've got Begonias for the first time this year - mostly hanging ones - and have been impressed by the same thing @Noflora. Have also been wondering how to overwinter the tubers.

My offerings from today...

Plus a Fuchsia that I bought from the shelf of doom last summer and brought it inside over the winter in the hope it would survive and I'm so pleased that this year it's really thriving and always heavy with blooms 😊

WOW @beautyisfoundwithin You are amazing with what you can do with things from the shelf of doom!

All so beautiful. I love your pink theme @Noflora Smile

Your troughs always look so healthy @AnneKipanki

Sort of garden related... this was the view from a hotel room I stayed in last night (bad weather, beautiful view) and I've just come home to find DA ''Mary'' in bloom Smile

Thank you @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet. I think perhaps I buy WAY too many things from the shelf. Partly because I love a bargain, and partly because I hate the thought of it all going in the bin if no one buys it! Seems such a waste to me 😔

DDemelza · 16/08/2020 16:50

Quick question- when I open this thread, it loads in stages, and I always see a picture of a bright purple geranium with a dramatic black centre. Scroll as I might, I can't locate it. Could anyone who recognises this description please tell me what kind it is?

Those begonias are gorgeous.

Also loving the dahlias here. Has anyone tried raising them from seed?
