@popgoesperfection that is really pretty.

Today's theme: good things in small packages. A dianthus, a viola and a hottentot fig (?) (definitely an alpine from South Africa but I can't remember which!).

Thank you Anne and ddemelza!
Just re read my last post and what I meant to put was 'lots of lovely lilies' 😂 I promise I hadn't had a wine haha

catwithflowers · 06/08/2020 21:13

I can claim no credit for these beauties as my dad grew them in his garden but they look so fabulous that it seems mean not to share 😅. Nothing subtle about these gorgeous blooms. They are so joyous ❤️

I've managed to escape from under a needy kitten for five minutes in the garden

Butterfly not playing ball and flitting every time I try and take a photo
Agapanthus just opening though will try and get a better picture in the sun. Choisya flowering again

New blooms on 'Angel Eyes', and David Austin ''Mary''. It has grown so much and is just about to repeat-bloom 🙏

Incredible blooms, always. That pale agapanthus is really sweet, oldraver.

Two cosmoses (out of fourteen!) have finally decided to bloom- one on the edge of an overcrowed flower bed, and the other by the back (northfacing) fence (which whole area was brambles and nettles back in March). Next year, I will be sowing them all earlier and treating them meaner! The others twelve are all like mini palm trees- luxuriant and bud-free.😰

My three for today 😊
Bergamot and a bee, my favourite nasturtium this year called Ladybird Rose and a rolling in the sunshine cat 💕🌱

catwithflowers · 07/08/2020 18:11

Oh and after watching them almost every day since sowing late April, the sweet peas have finally flowered and are romping up their poles!!! I'm definitely sowing them in early March next year.

@DDemelza I had a bad year for Cosmos too. Mine didn't even get the seedling stage apart from three which are now growing strongly in the bed. I don't know what I did wrong. Any tips? I thought Cosmos were supposed to be a doddle to grow 😳

catwithflowers · 07/08/2020 18:15

Gorgeous photos everyone. Always your roses are so beautiful!

beautyisfoundwithin · 07/08/2020 18:53

That Agapanthus is lovely @Oldraver.

It's funny, I have the same thing with my Cosmos, first time I've sowed them after I also read that they're dummy proof, but apparently not! I've got some quite big bushy plants, but no sign of a bud anywhere! I'd appreciate any tips too! Glad to see yours are flowering @DDemelza.

Love that Nasturtium @catwithflowers, I've got my eye on one called Cherry Rose for next year.

popgoesperfection · 08/08/2020 07:30

There beauty's them raptor !!! 😋

Mamia15 · 08/08/2020 08:33

Another rose - it's a new DA climber, Madame Alfred Carriere. It took its time to flower - pretty ragged white with a hint of blush pink with a beautiful scent.

This morning I have a red hot poker flower, a campanula and a mass of radish flowers that I forgot to harvest and now are putting in a modestly pretty show.

And I've been enjoying my Aztec broccoli plants, for eating but also for their looks. Some of the leaves go this almost luminous red colour and the stems are very handsomely striped.

@Mamia15 I bought MMe Alfred Carriere for my husband as a birthday present last year. It still hasn't flowered but has lots of growth. I didn't research it properly and have now realised it's not the most suitable rose for a wooden trellis 7 feet high by 20 across 🙈😳

We are going to leave it this year and are training the branches sideways rather than up but I really think next year we will have to replace it will a more appropriate climber, maybe Claire Austin. Live and learn. Yours has a beautiful flower though

beautyisfoundwithin · 08/08/2020 09:42

My Buddleia is finally in bloom and I've been so happy to see it teeming with butterflies 😍

Took a few snaps yesterday which were mostly blurry as they flitted around, but got a couple of clear-ish ones!

Cat - try training it horizontally if not done already. Easier when it's still young I think. I've had mine a couple of months and it took a while to start flowering but now I have quite a few blooms and several buds I'm happy.

applecatchers36 · 08/08/2020 10:05

Gorgeous buddleia and butterflies Beauty

This mornings blooms

@always2ndbest I love those lights. What are they?

always2ndbest · 08/08/2020 11:04

@puzzledpiece they are just standard kick board lights for in the kitchen. My other half adapted them for outdoor use. In the last week the planter has exploded! Someone asked about the penguins, they were from a timber mill near Bristol.
