Always - that's a lovely speciman. Such a bargain I bet!

TheClitterati · 26/07/2020 20:50

What should I do with this rose! I think it might need a frame to climb on? It's off the deck, not near a fence.

Oldraver · 26/07/2020 21:38

@Elladisenchanted with the Evening Primrose (yellow flower) break off the wilted flower and seed head and by 8ish a new lot of flowers will come out

If you have the patience you can watch the heads unfurl

Elladisenchanted · 26/07/2020 21:55

Thanks @BewareTheBeardedDragon
@oldraver I'll give that a go thanks!

Dementedma, your pond is BEAUTIFUL.

Monty is strangely adorable but has a lot of weird pronunciations. I can't bear hearing him talk about CLEM-a-tis.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 27/07/2020 00:11

How else would you say clematis?!?

@popgoesperfection it's Spanish Flag - a type of ipomoea.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 27/07/2020 00:12

Close up with one of the little flowerlets poking out some stamens (? Hope that's the right word...)

I bet you have a lovely view from your veranda @allthekittles

popgoesperfection · 27/07/2020 08:08

It's really striking @BewareTheBeardedDragon. Is it a climber?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 27/07/2020 14:02

@popgoesperfection yes it is, I have it clamouring through various fruit and veg to brighten up the productive areas of the garden. It seems to be pretty forgiving and easy going. The seeds germinated really well and transplanted happily. It's a tender annual. 😊
I'm hoping it might self seed like morning glory, but that is based on no knowledge other than them being the same family. I got the seed packet on a magazine.

popgoesperfection · 27/07/2020 14:11

Think I fancy one of them for my garden @BewareTheBeardedDragon Smile and easy going is right up my street Grin
Here is a hydrangea in my mums garden for all your hydrangea lovers 😁

ooh fab anemones! I've planted a few of those this year Smile

Garden got a bit battered in the rain yesterday, I lost quite a few branches from my fuchsias... but anyway they're still looking pretty good all things considered Smile (pics with bonus pinks)

Mixed border looking into the herb garden, crocosmia and a bergamot which always looks a bit scruffy and makes me smile!

Anyone who thinks cats damage the garden has obviously never had hens 🙈. Little buggers. They have limited time in the garden each day as they are so destructive 😳

Hens with thalictrum, hen eating a hydrangea and a close up of boss hen who is called Nigella!

@BewareTheBeardedDragon love Japanese anemones ❤️
@RaptorInaPorkPieHat What beautiful dahlias 😍

DDemelza · 29/07/2020 21:49

Those beautiful hens look sublimely evil, cat! The crocusmia are so striking. We planted ours with some salvia "Blaze of Fire" and because of the lockdown accidentally ended up with an all red bed- and it's beautiful!

Have worked hard on my garden the last few years. Before and after.

Haha Demelza. They are dreadful but I'm fond of them. We have decided not to get more though once these three go. We've had hens for the last four years or so but have really got into the garden in a big way in the last year. They have a knack of seeking out the things I love the most, the things I have spent a year growing from seed and checking on every day. Then they rip them to pieces in minutes.

They are characters and the eggs are lovely but it's hard to see things you have taken such care over destroyed ☹️
