Last year's christmas tree has just put on new growth - looking healthy at the moment.

Beautiful rose Phineas Smile and brilliant to see a christmas tree in July too waltzingparrot

As promised, the pic of the sunflower I think it's starting to form a bud but I'd have to get a ladder out to check Wink Also, the day lilies are continuing to bloom and my bed of geraniums (which was bare soil in march)

Whoa that is some sunflower Raptor

I am impatiently waiting to show you my hydrangeas but given 3 are cuttings from last year when I chucked one out there may be a wait for those. My late flowering one is nearly here, watch this space, it is one of my favourite things in the garden.

Pop, it's normal to get distressed when cats attack birds. Fingers crossed for that wee one. You've done all you can.

Two newest additions to my garden: a Peruvian lily and a salvia "Hot Lips." Strictly X rated.

Those day lilies are stunning Raptor, such a delicate colour.

Those Peruvian lilies are also gorgeous Demelza, I might need to invest in some lilies I think ...

beautyisfoundwithin · 21/07/2020 18:47

Hoping your baby bird is ok @popgoesperfection. Got my fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for you. I know what you mean, it's a fact of life, but you still want to help if you can.

Your day lilies are lovely @RaptorInaPorkPieHat, can I ask how big the whole plant is? I have a couple but the flowers are nowhere near as impressive or plentiful as yours! Also can't believe the height of that Sunflower!!

Lovely photos @Phineasthegreat, @Noflora & @DDemelza! 😊

popgoesperfection · 21/07/2020 19:49

Noflora you have the most beautiful roses 😍
Been out to check on baby bird and it's gone, so either managed to fly away or cat has been back for it, I'm hoping it isn't the latter 🤞🏻
Just wow raptor, that's like jack and the bean stalk, it's huge !!!!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 21/07/2020 19:54

It's a good few years old (probably 10 years at least) @beautyisfoundwithin and it's been moved and divided a couple of times. It probably takes up a 2ft patch in the flower bed.

applecatchers36 · 22/07/2020 10:02

Love those Dahlia's Noflora what a pop of colour!

Today's blooms hibiscus, sunflower and salvia

This thread is so inspiring!

I was furloughed right at the beginning of lockdown and bought a few seeds alongside some of the M&S little garden things - to keep the kids entertained...

Well now my tiny triangle of decking is full to bursting with pots, my friend and I have been on garden centre 'dates' and I’ve got flowers galore!

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/07/2020 13:51

I obviously bought a dwarf variety of sunflowers...

My sweet peas are a real talking point with my neighbours.

I couldn’t have pointed out petunias a few months ago, these are garden ready plants from TM.

Violas from M&S, prolific though the older ones are looking a bit shabby now.

Still waiting on marigolds and zinnias as I planted the seeds a bit late I think

Hmm, the sweet peas don’t look very good in that pic, more impressive in real life I promise!
My favourites have come out a maroon colour, and they have 4 flowers to each little bundle.

I love following this thread but I haven't posted any pics before. I am very excited that my flame lilies (Gloriosa rothschildiana) are blooming though so I had to share. The style that protrudes at 90 degrees is an interesting adaptation for pollination if any of you are fellow plant science nerds as well as gardeners!

Where did you get your lovely little blue pot @popgoesperfection? I have been searching for something similar.

Wow that’s spectacular Goingoverground! And those sweet peas are a lovely colour too Thursday

beautyisfoundwithin · 22/07/2020 18:37

Thanks @RaptorInaPorkPieHat, yours is much bigger than mine then, I'll just have to have patience.

Gorgeous photos again today!

Very exotic @goingoverground!

That's great that you've become so interested in gardening during lockdown @ThursdayLastWeek, you've certainly done a great job!

No exciting new blooms for me, so I'll share a little project I've just finished. Was such a bargain, I managed to pick up all of the plants from the shelf of doom for only 50 cents each! 😁
