Here are some of my current blooms from around my garden; Cistus, Hydrangea and Mallows, all pink Smile

(I think mumsnet only allow 3 uploads)?

And a little tabby @Dontsweat

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 12/07/2019 10:46

Yes to deadheading and period houses with mature gardens Grin

Here is one of my climbing roses. My iPhone camera has not been kind, this time.
It's picked up the human equivalent of every lump and bump, in flower form.
Still pretty though Smile

Lovely@Always
There were bugs in my rosa officianalis ...I did not bother taking a photo.
I hate trying to get red flowers...camera cannot cope.

Lovely thread

Anne that tabby is not so little. He is a monster of a cat and twice the size of my others

Mine is a work in progress! We bought the house a year ago and the garden is HUGE and s bit neglected. We're slowly trying to get it in shape. We feel very lucky, but a bit overwhelmed!

Your pear tree is beautiful Kdubs
We have pear trees locally which produce a sort of conference pear. DD loves pears. I’m not sure I’ve seen them have such a fine blossom as yours.
We have also apple, plum, blackberry and slows growing “wild” (actually intentionally planted but now growing wild). And the sad thing is I am the only person I have ever seen collecting these free fruit!

My Everlasting Pea (white wall) and my Sweet Pea (brown wall)

Has anyone had an Everlasting Pea, does it die right back in winter?

I had one at my house, when I lived in Bolton. Yes, it dies away totally. It can also take a while to come back again the following year; a couple of times I thought it had gone and then suddenly it would be there and flowering splendiforously all summer. Flowers

I've tried growing it again from seed where I am now, but have never managed to get it going Sad

Pretendapony · 12/07/2019 23:03

Definitely want to follow this thread for inspiration. I’ve got a huge blank canvas and no idea where to start!

Beebumble2 · 13/07/2019 08:00

Siameasy I’ve an everlasting pea, it’s a pale pink, but I like your strong colour.
It does die back in winter, I wait until it’s mostly brown then prune lower down and give it a mulch with some spent compost from the tomatoes.
It’s quite late popping it’s head out the next spring, so don’t think it’s gone.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 13/07/2019 08:34

Alwaysonabloodydiet my lad is a media whore. He is one of the few things I post pictures of on facebook😀

Just had a stroll around the garden and apart from the grass needing cutting😩 and spot weeding all is well.

Even my succulents are flowering. I gave up on strawberries a while ago and planted houseleeks instead.
My grape vine is from a small cutting given to me last year when I was in Romania. I thought I managed to kill it over winter but it survived the rain and should be ready to go in the ground soon.
The luckier was my husbands favourite so I always smile when I see it.

@VictoriaBun I love your alpine garden.

I have been thinking of buying some raised bed planters for fruit and veg, but I am now thinking of using one for alpines because I love them.

This thread is very inspiring, thank you op.

Here are my Elegant Lady tulips that were up until about a couple of weeks ago.

EP grows wild a lot round here Bee and I’ve seen your pale pink, medium pink and also white.
I shall try the tips - yes that seems to happen with some flowers prettybird you think it’s gone and boom

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 13/07/2019 09:51

This is such a lovely thread! I am place marking.

As with many others I’ve inherited a terrible garden (just grass - 2 boys lived here before so = football pitch) - there wasn’t a single flower or plant here!! It’s made me realise how much I would value a mature garden when we next move.

Here’s the before and during.. including the ‘plastic pile’ 😐

And current progress (Black splodge is DH to be!)

I wish we’d done better with the borders but hopefully they’ll look better once established. Next target is the horrible patio paving - we did unearth some beautiful stone in the dump of horrors so we should be able to swap it out easily.

My rose pictured last is my pride and joy. It’s a memorial to my pet but has produced some amazing flowers this year, so I cut some off and took them to enjoy inside the house 🙂

@Killybashangel and @Autumnchill please can you tell me what that beautiful plant is called? Please?
Pretty please?

AnneKipanki · 13/07/2019 12:54

You have been working hard @CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt !

Autumnchill · 13/07/2019 13:05

@Threedaysaweek2019 it's Cistus Rock Rose

The previous owner has grown it into a tree but I believe it should be a bush. I love those couple of weeks when it blooms but the petals are so delicate they fall off with the slightest gust of wind

Were in the midst of planting meadow grass, mostly planning how to water the bigger atm, my garden isn’t quite ready for it’s close up yet, but I’ll be back when it is!

I’m new at all this, it’s an education and a half this gardening lark!
