Of our gardens, plants and flowers?

Here are some of my current blooms from around my garden; Cistus, Hydrangea and Mallows, all pink Smile

(I think mumsnet only allow 3 uploads)?

In spite of my cat’s attempt to flatten them all, I managed to actually get one of my irises to flower!

Picture of the iris in question and one of the cat gently resting his head against the flower stalk...😂

Lovely @Gordonsgrin
@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet , Pieris is a good shrub to have . It comes in several leaf colours.
The first one is in our front , 2nd in the back .

Thanks @AnneKipankiAnnkipanki, I should qualify my statement, I meant this is a wonderful time of year for garden lovers. Obviously this is an awful time for everyone more generally.

I agree @Gordonsgrin, May really is a lovely time for gardeners. I don’t think my garden looks anywhere near as good in July, or August, but I’m working on it!

I had no idea Pieris came in different leaf colours. I’m learning a lot from this thread! 😀

@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet , there are not many posts left.
My philadelphus flowers late June/ early July and I love the scent in the garden.

@Crazzzycat He looks very content there Smile
Roses and Hydrangea are a must for July & August. I'm learning too!

GordonsGrin I know exactly what you meant Smile

Anne Feel free to do the honours and start a second thread Smile
And thank you for all the shrub suggestions, although I'm quite adamant I will only buy one 🙈

Do you all watch Gardeners' World? I don't think I can bear to watch it tonight Sad It's usually my favourite part of the week, Friday nights with Monty and Nigel Sad

Here are my Rhododendron and cosmos today.

No , I don't . I used to watch Beechgrove Garden . It is a Scottish show. One of the ladies on it works at a nearby garden centre.

I know what you meant too @Gordonsgrin.

@AlwaysOnABloodyDiet , I have started a few threads . Mostly WAG .

I'm trying to figure out what WAG means ! Is it something to do with Footballer's wives and girlfriends? And I don't know that programme.

I've been out in the garden. So many new blooms - a Lilac, I can't remember the name. I think it was a German name, and a weigela. I'll post a better picture when it's in full bloom, it's enormous .... and very pink Smile

A new thread you say?! 🤨 I must go and check it out!

Lovely pictures @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet & @Miaowse! what is that flower Miaowse? It looks gorgeous

Hi Crazzzycat, it was well established when we moved in so I’m not sure, could it be an old rose? The stems have lots of very, very small thorns/spikes, reddish and soft on new growth but more like proper thorns on older stems (I’ve attached a picture). The flowers are highly fragranced and smell like roses to me.

I think you’re right Miaowse! I can’t believe I didn’t recognise it as a rose. I must swat up on my flower identification skills 😳
