We have a yarden - down south houses like ours have actual gardens, but in Lancs it’s generally just a small yard.

We have lots of pots though, plus a couple of trees which have got down to earth.

I can't remember what these are called but they're over 8 feet tall and the bees love them!

@BobTheDuvet Was your picture of the Japanese anemone taken last year?
I thought they bloom in autumn? My leaves are just beginning now, although they're growing rapidly. I planted sooooo many of them last year!

@Killybashangel mine was establish by previous owner who died. According to next door neighbour it was her favourite.

She's grown it into a tree rather than bush. I'll try and get a photo tomorrow when the flowers are

@BobTheDuvet
Think I have gone overboard with the courgettes though 😂 8 plants and only me who'll eat them !
Aubergines & Peppers are very much in their infancy compared to the other veg, don't know if they're going to make it.

Fucksandflowers · 09/07/2019 21:38

LOOks like pampas grass?

Nemesia1264 · 09/07/2019 21:48

More like astilbe, the stems don't look like pampas grass.

Fucksandflowers · 09/07/2019 22:42

Astilbe doesn't grow that big surely?
If it does I'd better reconsider my idea to plant it near the pond!
It'll dwarf it.

prettybird · 10/07/2019 09:11

That's rodgersia Smile

Flowers are a bit like astilbe but much bigger. A really good perennial that is fully hardy (survived the really hard winter 9 years ago and the beast from the East last year in my garden). It's a lovely structural plant.

AnneKipanki · 10/07/2019 09:35

@Nemesia Yes , courgette loaves and cakes are lovely . You can do a nice quiche too.
Stir fry with garlic and serve with pasta.

AnneKipanki · 10/07/2019 09:36

Is that a philadelphus further along ?@prettybird

AnneKipanki · 10/07/2019 09:37

Sorry , question is for @Seafour
