To remind myself as much as anything else!

Aldi have vegetable plug plants in tomorrow, £1.99 each. 10 varieties - pictures show broccoli, caulis, tomatoes, peppers. Also, rhodos for £5.99 if they are your kind of thing.

Some unnecessary question marks there.

IKEA have lovely big box balls this week. £10. I've got 2 and they look so healthy.

Am nearly at Lidl. Not sure about box balls. I think they look like hard work.

Box balls are dead easy. You'll need a pair of shears and they just get trimmed two or three times a year. They tolerate a lot of neglect, though if they are in a pot they will need watering and a bit of feed. I'm not sure what Lidl have at the moment, but their plants are often good.

Just a heads up that TK Maxx have some LOVELY wooden-handled Joseph Bentley tools for £4.99 each (hand tools) or £7.99 for mid-length tools. Also some very high quality leather gardening gloves and LOTS of snips of various kinds all under a tenner.

Love my gloves and snips sets. Poundland !

Nothing in Aldi, nothing in Lidl, nothing in the 99p shop. But lots of sad looking sweet peas in the garden centre. £1 a tray. I hope I can revive them.

The Aldi app shows the special offers (normally on Thursdays and Sundays). Nothing much up until Thurs 4 June. Usually a wave of gardening stuff follows a lull Grin Maybe look out for stuff week commencing Sun 7th June...

I like Poundland's range but also favour Wilkinson (surprisingly good), B&M Bargains (mostly kit and chemicals, and A LOT of solar lights and decorations Wink) and Home Bargains.

I paid a visit to B&M today and left with several unusual square hanging baskets (incl. liners) reduced from £4.99 to £1 (no indication of this until I got to the till). Quite pleased as they're a bit deeper and roomier than my current baskets. Also bought two ginormous plastic terracotta pots for £3.99 each.

If you want to know the cheapest place for certain things, ask away Grin

We don't have a B&M nearby but there is a Wilkinson. What do you know about Lidl's solar lights?

Unfortunately we don't have a Lidl in these parts SadGrin
I have two sets of white solar fairy lights from Aldi that I bought exactly a year ago and unwrapped/put out for the first time this week.

I really like them and best of all they came with a three year (!) warranty. I actually emailed the manufacturer as one set doesn't stay on very long, and they're posting me out a new set, no bother Shock Great service.

The same lights were actually on Aldi special buys a matter of days ago so I'm surprised your store no longer had them Sad They're packaged in blue and black boxes.

In other solar-fairy-light-news I picked up two boxes of pink (PINK*) lights from Poundstretcher today. They were free with vouchers from The Mirror at the weekend (only bought it for that reason!)

My garden now looks ridiculous Grin

  • NB The choice was pink, red or multi. I hate multicoloured lights Wink I notice they were careful to leave white and blue out of the offer!

I'll go back to Aldi I think. The queues weren't horrendous and, although I didn't get any plants, I did find some other stuff. I didn't look for lights there. I just noticed them in Lidl but I couldn't face the queue there.

Just checked the Aldi '50 LED solar string lights' came in on Sunday 24th. They'd still be out on our shopfloor. Maybe worth asking the staff if they've been moved into the back?

Have any of you tried morrisons? Our local one has a good stock of v v cheap plants. I completely filled my hanging basket with £2 worth of pansie bought there the other day. Other things I've picked up there recently have been a hosta, erysimum, couple of acers, blueberry twig bush, rosemary plant and an astilbe. Plants are normally £1-2 and shrubs £4-10. The candelabra primroses I picked up last year are looking spectacular at the moment! Ditto my fig tree.

I've got two kids in childcare so my gardening budget is severely restricted - morrisons have been a lifesaver (especially as aldi is a bit of a trek for me)!

Ooh, morrisons cheaper than aldi for fruit trees- £10-15!

I like morrisons. The big ones usually have their own garden centre, my local one is small but has quite a few good plants all the same. They also occasionally have some crazily reduced stuff on the shelf of doom. I got 2 primroses for 8p each!! I've also recently bought Polemonium (Jacob's ladder) for £1, an unusual plant which I had not seen before but it is very pretty. They have a good selection of "wildlife/bee-friendly" plants and my raspberry canes have all come from there too

I share in the Morrisons and Aldi love!

Moved in last year and had to populate a tidy but rather bare garden. Morrisons stocked all the basic plants I was recommended and they've all gone on to thrive Smile
I think they do an impressive mix of bedding/ climbers/ shrubs/ perennials.

I went to Aldi yest and they'd reduced their summer patio planters to £2.99 and packs of 10 bedding to 99p. They were on a shelf beside the new plants mentioned below.

Shove - do you have a Poundstretcher near? They've reduced their packs of 100 solar lights to £4.99 (only red, pink or multicoloured). You get twice as many as the Aldi packs and mine stay on half the night! I think they also sell packs of white and blue but only 50 per pack and I didn't check the price.
B&M also stock the same ones but slightly dearer Wink

Right, I'm off to find a Poundstretcher! Thank you so much! Grin Grin Grin

Hooray! Do report back Grin

The one I went in had a stack of the lights as you went in, but it had been depleted - mostly red left. I ventured into the gardening zone and there were about a billion more boxes Shock
They're obviously having trouble shifting them Grin

Went to homebase and got compost 2 bags of 50L miracle gro compost for £10 and a garden scoop
