To remind myself as much as anything else!

Aldi have vegetable plug plants in tomorrow, £1.99 each. 10 varieties - pictures show broccoli, caulis, tomatoes, peppers. Also, rhodos for £5.99 if they are your kind of thing.

I have been a bought a tayberry thank you HaveYouSeenHer - and at our branch they were selling off ( rather sad, but big) squashes/aubergines/tomatoes and pepper plants - 99p each!

You're welcome! I've just been gifted two rather sad looking butternut squash plants by a neighbour so I'm trying to nurture them into producing a crop in time Thanks

I got another blackcurrant. I was tempted by the tayberries, but my love of currants just possessed me at the wrong moment!

Aldi also have cheap veg seeds - down to 19p. They do this every year, and it's a great bargain because the seeds are good varieties, have a good germination rate, and are best before 2018 in most cases - so they'll easily do next year.

Varieties I saw:

Lettuce 'Little Gem'
Sweet basil
Parsley 'Envy'
Leek 'Musselburgh'
Carrot 'Chantenay Red Cored 2' and 'Early Nantes 6'
Pumpkin 'Hundredweight'
Broccoli 'Early green calabrese'
Aubergine 'Black beauty
Chilli pepper 'De Cayenne'
Cabbage 'Golden Acre Primo II'
Sweet pepper 'Californian Wonder'
Tomato 'Moneymaker'
Cucumber 'Marketmore'
Cauliflower 'All the year round'

I really, really wanted a bramble but DH put his foot down - just too thuggish, and I didn't really have a leg to stand on, as he does all the pruning/chopping back......

The blackberry I got last year is thornless - it's so velvety! Grin

Yes - I think the varieties this year are too! Goodbook - maybe you can still persuade him!

I can't wait!!!

In the meantime, today Lidl have cheap garden tools - secateurs for £2.50-£4, a folding saw for £2.99, loppers and shears for £8, and an extendable pruner for £13.

Then on Thursday, they have plants including roses (£2.99) rhodos (£3.99), hydrangeas (£3.50) and spring bulbs from £170. On the picture are some rather nice looking ranunculus. Give the success of creeping buttercup as a weed in my garden, I think I might give them a go!!

Ahem, that's £1.70 not £170. Would be very expensive buttercups for that.

I bought some 19p seeds from Aldi, thanks Shove Grin

Mostly flower seeds were left which was fine as I stick to growing easy veg - tomatoes, courgettes, lettuce and herbs Grin

I bought lavatera, cosmos, godecia and wallflowers. I've not grown any of them before except lavatera. I'm quite inspired to grow my annuals next summer. That's the plan anyway Hmm

I'm watching Love Your Wild Garden on ITV, getting some ideas for my wildlife pond Wink I'm envious of their budget. I want a stumpery too Grin

haveyouseenher - hooray for seeds! I actually managed not to do any annuals this year - I just clean forgot about them and now I am wondering where they all are! They do make a big impact in the summer. Your garden will be glowing next year.

I have a stumpery!! Well, ahem, that's perhaps overstating the case. The council pulled out some trees at my allotment and they let me take home three of the stumps, which I have upended amongst my ferns. It's quite a small area, so I love calling it the 'stumpery' in my best Hyacinth Bucket voice. Wink. A bit like DH and I call our knackered old patio a 'terrACE' (French pronunciation) while kidding around. (It's partly a sly dig at PIL who genuinely WOULD use those words with a straight face!!). Anyway, the stumps seem to be doing their job of encouraging minibeasts down there - but I imagine you'd get a similar effect from a good ole fashioned log pile!

Reporting in to say that I live my new secateurs from Lidl, and I am also very pleased with my extendable tree lopper things also from Lidl, although I've not yet used them. I Ave a few pairs of Lidl secateurs now, and assorted shears and loppers, and I really rate them -definitely good value for the £ spent.

Like a saddo, I am a bit excited about the upcoming Aldi special on 27th of plants/flowers (referred to in leaflet). What will it be...?

Just popping in to say that we picked up some of those log edging thingys for £1.00 each from Morrisons. We are actually on holiday in Cornwall, bought six and hope they fit in the car ok for the return journey!

Great buys everyone!

How disappointing Zebra, it's only acers (9.99) and 6pk heather (3.99) coming up (Aldi). Thought there would be more Grin

I bought a pack each of snowdrop and allium bulbs from Morrisons. Not done either before! I'll probably be asking questions around October as I'm a bit of a novice at bulbs Grin

Thanks haveyouseenher!

And I'm glad the climbers are coming on well, Leeza.

I found this page of Gardeners' World offers, which I think can be accessed by anyone even though they are supposed to be subscriber only!

www.gardenersworld.com/offers/

It's worth checking out the offers against other retailers, though, because some of them aren't as good value as you might think. The Woolman's offer is on there and is brilliant value - but the 'Cheerfulness' daffs in a separate offer are cheaper at J Parker bulbs!
