Aldi have vegetable plug plants in tomorrow, £1.99 each. 10 varieties - pictures show broccoli, caulis, tomatoes, peppers. Also, rhodos for £5.99 if they are your kind of thing.

Blimey that is cheap for box balls - they are £50 for that size in the local nursery. Sadly I can't do box as neighbours have had trouble with box blight.

Ooh, Shove how do you know what Aldi have in June? I love their's and Lidl's, gardening offers. Everything that I've bought, whether tool or plant, has been really good quality and good value.

God I've changed so much in the last 10 years! I used to HAT my mum shopp at those shops, now I get excited about future deals...

Zebra - I typed 'Aldi' and 'standard bay' into Google and this page came up!

I suspect it is an old one from last year. But they normally have roughly the same plants at the same time, so I have my hopes up.

I know what you mean about the discounters. I am terrible for checking the Aldi offers page every two bloody minutes! My teenage self would die of shame to look at me now.

I have been to Aldis and bought 10 climbers - lathyrus, clematis and Lonicera at £1.79 each .

They were in 9cm pots but all had good root systems . I've potted them on into 1litre pots and I will plant out in the garden in about a month or so ( we are exposed with heavy clay soil so I like to give the poor wee things a bit of a head start )

They are much better than the ones I bought from Morrisons for a similar price .

The bare roots roses I bought from Aldis in the autumn are starting to come away now too .

I got a few Aldi climbers too! Judging by Mumsnet, they've done very well on those.

Just saw Poundland has little disposable plant pots £1 for a pack of 30, amongst other things (including twisty ties)

Just got back from Aldi, now the proud owner of a waterbutt (£18.99) and a stock pot (£9.99 reduced from £19.99, suitable for all hobs including induction). I can now water my thirsty plants with rainwater and deal with the gluts of veg they will hopefully produce by making big batches of chutney!

They also had: thermometers, plant twisty ties, plant clips, wire (all 99p), wheely hose things (£19.99), and loads and loads of veg and flower seeds at 39p.

More stuff in lidl tomorrow - pots, clogs, lawn mowers etc - and plants, hurrah! Just found this thread. Am dismayed that I didn't know about these garden offers. I've just paid £12.99 for a climber. Really pissed off.

That said, not much choice. I went to Aldi and they had loads of acer and a couple of cherry bushes. Do I have to keep going in there till I find something I like. It seems a bit hit and miss. But I did buy some £1.99 face cream, so not entirely wasted. I guess it's okay. How bad can face cream be?

Stitch - most of the gardening stuff in Aldi comes in on 'special buys'. There are three a week and over the course of the year they cover absolutely tons of the basics you need. But you do have to keep an eye out and keep going back and back because the stock comes in and then sells out and then it's a long wait for the next lot. Fortunately, their website lists most of the offers each week, so you can preview what's on and see if it's worth the trip.

I just bought a pot of the £3.99 Lacura expert face cream and it is ACE! Honestly, it is better than some of the stuff I get bought for birthdays that is ten times the price. I've told everyone to buy me gardening stuff instead in future.

They currently have Acers at £11 and box balls for a £10. A lot of the gardening stuff for previous weeks is still knocking around my store, including bags of bedding plants (good for companion planting at the allotment or park planting if you must )
