I’m so nervous. DD is nervous/ excited. She was one of those who sat the edexcel maths exam that everyone complained about. I think her other two subjects should be fine but I feel sick thinking maths could change things big time. Luckily the two sciences are more important to her course than the maths but still. I had dreams all last night and not sure I’ll sleep much tonight. The fact you can find out from ucas if you’ve been accepted before you get your grades is even worse I think. DD is autistic and although she has a very good back up in her insurance choice she might want to see what’s out there in clearing before committing to it. I just hope it’s good news and we don’t have to spend the day dealing with finding a space and a meltdown or shutdown. She knows we are proud however she has done but she is her own worst critic.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. It's many years since my dcs did A levels and mine are ancient history but can I just say whatever happens stay positive. Even if your dc have to take a different path things will work out. My own A levels were a complete car crash ( parent seriously ill when I was in the upper sixth) and at the time I was devastated but 4 years later I graduated from a well respected Uni and went on to research and later teaching.Older dd unexpectedly only passed 2 out of 3 A levels but got her place anyway and went on to get a PhD and a career she loves.

Current state of emotions in our house:

DC1's nerves are frayed and she's trying so hard not to show it. I don't think DC2 is even nervous on her own behalf; she has her gap year sorted and that's what she cares about right now. But she's nervous for her sister as wellm

Are your DS/DD checking UCAS first? Or going straight into school?

Dd has opted to check UCAS first, even though school has asked them all to come in before 8.

I'm saying nothing...there has been tears this week.

Place marking for tomorrow. We’re going out to watch the eclipse this evening so that will take some time off our hands!

Plan for the morning:
8am - check UCAS
8.01am - cry (happy or disappointed tears either way)
8.15am - go to sixth form to collect results
8.25am -start calling clearing or start calling relatives

I have a feeling DS will sleep in and I will be busy checking grade boundaries!

DS will almost certainly check UCAS first - if he has got into his first choice he will know he has at least three As and we can all relax.

Working in exams office tomorrow - our mathmos did Pearson and I'm v curious to see how that panned out. Good luck to all!

We will have 2 windows open on the laptop - one on UCAS and one on the exam board results page. Email too of course.

We’re fortunate to have an exam board that releases results online from 8am (DS’s updated at 7.58am a few years ago) so no need to go into school at all, and no long wait knowing about uni but not actual grades. They should both update at basically the same time.

Schools round here will still all be open for pupils to go in if they need to, to get support or whatever, and some schools still hand out results in paper form anyway.

Some schools choose not to sign up for the online release of results and if you’re in a school that doesn’t sign up then you’ve no choice as an individual. Some schools sign up, but also invite pupils in to collect results in person. Some sign up for the online service and only invite pupils who need support to come in - this is the case for DD’s school.

As it happens, she has friends from such a variety of schools it’s quite nice that they’re all at home because they can contact each other in their own time without solely focusing on school friends and then not seeing other people from other schools.

At DS's school only those who will need clearing have been asked to come in at 8, everyone else at 9.30, so I guess the assumption is they will all check UCAS first. This makes sense for us as we are less than five mins walk from the school but some kids are half an hour drive or more, I hadn't actually thought what they would do - will they drive up for 8am just in case?!

DD’s school opens 8am so we’ll get there for then.

It’s not on a bus route, so it’ll be my last ever school run!

then I’ll wait in the car. she took a couple of hours to come out with her gcse results, so I’m in for a fraught morning.

Shame it’s too early/illegal to drink while in charge of a vehicle!

Dds college is not opening tomorrow, so clearly not fussed about support through clearing.
Dd only want to do Primary with QTS and is taking a gap year to work in a school and get experience.
She worked really hard in her A levels so we can but hope. It would be too much to ask that she gets what she wants first time round but here's hoping!

DS’s degree apprenticeship offer is slightly easier than his firm UCAS uni offer, so he plans to check UCAS first in the hope that if he gets his firm option he’s also got his DA offer. Has to travel into school to get his actual results and confirm this though, we’ll be driving him in.

Can I join? We're waiting for Btec rather than Alevels.
Dd is currently panicking, she's forcasted to get D* DD or A *AA. Needs ABB.
I'm confident and already checked clearing her course is now BBC so she'll be fine.
