Yes - Edexcel stats and mechanics he thought it was dreadful. It does seem to be splitting opinions.

Having said that he thought that the dreadful paper 1 was a 'beauty'! Hopefully it will all even out.

Lalux · 18/06/2026 17:46

DS did Edexcel too and seemed ok with it. He said 2 questions just clicked in the last 5 minutes so he was really happy about that as hopefully picked up those marks. @AuntyBulgariaas you say hopefully it will all even itself out over the 3 papers.

very strange that it’s now all over. It hasn’t sunk in for me so I’m sure it hasn’t for him.

ArchitectureMum · 18/06/2026 18:15

DD is all done after AQA Maths. She thought it went ok. Worked out how to do a three marker afterwards but at least it wasn’t a 6 marker. She is also out to Spoons tonight. Think they will be busy all over the country.

I am sure they will all be on a bit of a slump now while they readjust. Hopefully next weeks good weather will kickstart the summer for them. The 8 week countdown to results starts here.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 18/06/2026 18:40

@AuntyBulgaria DS came out of paper 2 thinking it was bad while everyone else thought it was very good. Hopefully they have all done better than they think and get what they need. 🤞🤞

temperedolive · 19/06/2026 04:36

I've been mostly lurking here, as things have been a bit mad professionally (all resolved for the better now) but I'm cheering on all your DC from the background and wishing everyone well.

Both girls finished exqmsnow, though the reality doesn't seem to have set in. DC1 will be off to France in six weeks to start her gap year and is planning to get in every hour she can at her part-time job until then so she has some spare funds to help her set up her accomodation there. Bring 18, she also now has access to some money from her late father's estate, though we both agree that's better left for tuition or a down paykent on a house someday. DC2 has a couple of short term experience projects lined up through one of her tutors but beyond that I think she really just wants to rest and rejuvenate.

I'm hopeful that we can fit in one more family minibreak before everyone scatters and the chaos begins again. DC1 will be applying with grades in hand from France, ao we'll need to figure out how that works. DH has two boys entering Y13 and Y12 and my own DS will be starting Y10. I feel like I essentially live and die by UCAS now!

Ventress · 19/06/2026 08:18

Ofgs I have spent ages doing a replay that my phone has eaten!

anyway it welcomed @temperedoliveand commisserated with @JustHereWithMyPopcornbut expressed that our yp have done the work over the past 2 years and know it fundamentally,

He and the others have got this 🤞💐
good luck to all today! 💪

AuntyBulgaria · 19/06/2026 16:39

And with that DS is done!
Didn't finish on a great paper, and he has been doing all sorts of calculations to try and work out what he got.
But he is in the hands of the grade boundary gods!! I think it may be tight 😬

Now I need to not think about it until August.

Good luck to @Raindropsandposies DC who I think is the last one to finish next week.

Thank you! I hope all those who have finished can now relax and enjoy the weekend (including possibly prom or other parties) and not worry about grade boundaries. My DC was worrying about grade boundaries last night after the Maths exam as they need A star for Maths, so not much wiggle room. It does feel a long time to wait until August!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/06/2026 18:26

Oh I thought we were all finished now, I didn’t realise there were more exams next week!! Good luck to your DC for the last exam @Raindropsandposies

DS has gone off to prom!! It’s so hot here today, they are going to roast in their tuxes!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/06/2026 18:29

Prom tonight! DS has gone off looking very dapper! Then they head off on their boys trip on Sunday. The gamble being of away over contingency day has paid off!!

@Raindropsandposies hope your dc can keep their focus just a bit longer and the weather isn’t quite as hot as forecast for their last exam

our DS seems happy with all of his exams but he needs 2 A⭐️ so it’s a very high bar. August 13th will be here before we know it!!

CatkinToadflax · 19/06/2026 18:50

Hello, please can I join in? I’ve been reading for a while and you’re all so supportive of each other.

DS had his last hurrah today with FM. He’s exhausted but very relieved that it’s all done. And now we wait.

Best wishes to you all.

AuntyBulgaria · 19/06/2026 18:57

@CatkinToadflax welcome! Which paper were sitting? I hope it went well.

CatkinToadflax · 19/06/2026 19:12

@AuntyBulgaria thank you for the welcome!

He was - past tense sounds strange - doing Edexcel, so he had the ‘pleasure’ of the Edexcel maths papers too. He was very happy today, mainly relief that it’s done. He found maths harder overall than expected and FM pretty much as expected overall. He’s glad it’s all over.

Good luck to anyone still going next week!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/06/2026 07:53

@CatkinToadflax hello!

Glad your DS seems pleased with the way his exams have gone. What is he hoping to do in September?

CatkinToadflax · 20/06/2026 08:29

@Muchtoomuchtodo hello!

DS is an actor and is hoping for Exeter for a drama and film degree. Everything crossed for him and for everyone else….

ComingInByAnsible · 20/06/2026 09:43

Welcome, @CatkinToadflax! Congratulations to your DS on finishing his exams (and surviving the infamous Edexcel maths!) Wow, acting sounds amazing, best of luck to him for his degree and career. My DS loves Exeter and might well end up there (his insurance choice), it was a very close call with Warwick.

ComingInByAnsible · 20/06/2026 10:03

Well done to everyone who finished this week! What a relief! Hope your YP enjoyed/enjoy their well-deserved proms/parties/pubs/holidays, @Muchtoomuchtodo, @JustHereWithMyPopcorn, @MiniMidiMaxi and others.

@Ventress, I love your DS’s therapeutic politics essay posting - that boy will go far!

@temperedolive, lovely to have you back with us, congratulations on the exam-free house. Hope your DDs feel their exams went well, and that they both enjoy their next steps and plans.

@Fabfabfab, best of luck to your DS with job hunting. DS is similar and it’s not easy, especially as he is away quite a lot over the summer.

Hope everything goes well for your DC with FM on Monday, @Raindropsandposies ! Tough to be one of the last one finishing, I hope it ends up being a great exam.

AuntyBulgaria · 20/06/2026 10:11

Really lovely to hear about everyone's summer plans. We're off on holiday at the end of June.

DS is now reliving the exams and trying to work out marks for his maths and realising that he did worse than he thought. He needs A ⭐s and they might be a stretch from what he is saying.

He needs to forget about them now and enjoy his summer.

@CatkinToadflax my partner is an actor. It's a tricky career but a fun one! Getting a degree in drama sounds like a good move as you try and pursue a career but also end up with a degree.

HereWeAreToday · 20/06/2026 10:39

I’m sad because Dd isn’t coming on holiday with us this summer. She is off away with friends and then wants some chill time. Hopefully that doesn’t mean that family holidays are over forever

CatkinToadflax · 20/06/2026 13:07

@ComingInByAnsible @AuntyBulgaria thank you both for being so welcoming. DS’s course - assuming he gets the grades - will be JH so he’ll be acting, producing, directing, writing, staging, the whole shebang. Extra eggs in his basket rather than pure acting! It’ll hopefully be a little light relief after two years of FM, much as he loves maths! 😄

Hope everyone’s DC (and parents) are doing ok amongst the uncertain coming weeks. We have everything crossed! @AuntyBulgaria hope your DS is ok and not too worried.

Ventress · 20/06/2026 17:54

That sounds like great course @CatkinToadflaxBest of luck to your son getting those grades 😊 Jh and fm what combination!

DS has given up on organising a holiday with his mates @HereWeAreTodaythey are very flaky. He’s taking about coming on a short (uk) break with us, so I’m googling like mad! He’s looking at Istanbul as a lone city break.

@ComingInByAnsible- thank you, you are kind. he is still a total PITA 😂 DS has Exeter as his insurance choice too, lots of our dc seem too!

prom tonight - DS is already occupying the bathroom, DH is allowed to drop him at his friends house but that’s as close as we are allowed.

HighburyHope · 20/06/2026 22:23

First revision-free weekend, and DD says she is still getting pangs of guilt when she’s watching TV as it takes a moment to remember that she doesn’t have to go back to her books.

She did get up early for her volunteer role today, and it paid off because they’ve offered her a really good (paid) internship for summer 2027.

She has prom in the coming week, and we also have invitations to a “graduation” thing at the school where they say farewell to the Y13s. DD says this merits a new dress! Luckily the sales are on.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 21/06/2026 11:11

That sounds fantastic @HighburyHope. These opportunities are so hard to come by, it sounds like her volunteering has really paid off.

Echobelly · 21/06/2026 13:57

DC and friends decided not to go to the mountains today as friends couldn't face travel time - shame they won't see mountains, but I kind of understand as without a car it's quite a long trip. I think they might just take bus into the next town today to go to a restaurant we like for lunch.
