We will need to keep and eye on the post counter tomorrow @SilverBlue4, we are over 900 already. Do we need a results day new thread?

Thanks for the new thread, @SilverBlue4, have checked in!

Can’t believe the results day is tomorrow, wishing all your children great outcomes and smooth paths to their next opportunity. I am feeling very invested in everyone on here and keeping my fingers firmly crossed also with @HighburyHopefor @Ventress and her DS.

@hels71, I’ve been trying to catch up with the thread and just saw your news about surgery and your DH misadventure - hope you are both recovering well!

MamOfTwo · 12/08/2026 14:28

Adding my good luck wishes to all here before checking in on the other thread. Feeling nervous over here. May even have to do some cleaning to distract myself! Wishing the best outcome for each and everyone.

MiniMidiMaxi · 12/08/2026 14:40

Thanks @SilverBlue4- checking in too so I can find you all, either tomorrow morning or tonight as I distract myself with a glass of wine!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 12/08/2026 18:01

Thanks for the new thread @SilverBlue4

i’m off to the gym for a bit of a distraction!

My DS 1 did that the week he turned 18. He now has at least 5. Most I don’t mind but he has a large one on his upper arm that shows below short sleeved shirts and is heavy black and ugly.

Newlease · 12/08/2026 20:37

Just found the other thread. We left for holidays the day DS’s school closed, so left long without checking this thread.
Read a little and then come back to it there were more than 300 msgs!
hope @Ventress is reading, we are all thinking of you, thanks so much for your help throughout this experience
@ComingInByAnsible @ArchitectureMum @AuntyBulgaria @JustHereWithMyPopcorn @bluefineliner @Countrylife2002 good luck, hopefully we will all have a good day tmrw!!
FB page had loads of people talking about hearing from insurance, and I have also come across the clearing thread. Not that I am making any plans, DD is out staying with friends taking in everything Nature has on offer tonight, I am so grateful for the distraction too. I will only know once she know

BlackBean2023 · 12/08/2026 20:38

Blimey, sounds like Surrey have sent their offer emails at 8pm not 8am 😳

Really, you meant already emailed people? FB is full of people complaining about the insurance uni emailing with contracts and generic emails!
I am glad DD is not even opening her emails, clever bunch, decided to spent the evening looking at the sky. On the day of her ESAT results, DD went for a movie, I have no idea how her brain works, I would want to know asap, whatever the outcome and wouldn’t be able to even breath, let alone watch movie.
So I have decided to stay away, and only listen and not ask! 😐

Ours celebrated their 18th with a tattoo, which we paid for as a present but said they'll have to pay for any others!

They are out climbing tonight.

I have set up and whatsapp group just for them and DH (entitled 'Bank of Mum & Dad 😝' ) so they can message us both the results and then use it when they're at uni so they don't end up cadging money soley off me. TBF, they did acknowledge once 'Sorry mum, all my messages are me gouging you for money' . Hopefully they can get a job though, so they won't have to bother us too much for cash.

BlackBean2023 · 13/08/2026 17:55

Thank you all for the company over the last 2 years. It’s flown!

@Ventressif you’re still reading I’ve thought of you today ❤️

bluefineliner · 14/08/2026 11:39

I can't keep up with the other A level thread so wanted to echo what @BlackBean2023 said, thank everyone for their support and company over these past 2 years. It has been a bumpy stressful ride at time but things have worked out well for my DD.

@Ventress I thought of you yesterday too ❤.

Accommodation paid for and just waiting for a moving in date for DD, also the obligatory Ikea shop to schedule too now. We are planning a little trip to Newcastle soon so DD can drive up and we can get to know the city a bit more.

MiniMidiMaxi · 14/08/2026 12:00

I still haven’t seen DS since 9am yesterday! We left him at school after he got his results etc, he stayed out for the day/evening and then stayed at his girlfriend’s house last night (nearer town), and has not yet made contact this morning! Ah well, he’s giving me practice for when he leaves proper!

AuntyBulgaria · 14/08/2026 13:01

Agree the company of those on this thread has been a pleasure.
There is a final bit of nagging to be done here like deciding accommodation and working out what he needs to take. Then it will be quite a shift and adjustment for me!
I fear my partner will feel the brunt of my fussing now that son won't be at home!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/08/2026 17:42

Quick question!

once the place is offered on their ucas portal, I assume dc need to accept it?

Is that the sane for deferred places does anyone know? DS seems to think not, but he’s gone off for a week now on holiday (again!) and I’m a little bit anxious!!

ComingInByAnsible · 14/08/2026 19:18

@Muchtoomuchtodo, I also had that question so I googled and apparently no further confirmation is needed, at least not for Warwick. I don’t think it differs for deferred places though I’m not an expert.

ComingInByAnsible · 14/08/2026 19:19

Because apparently they already accepted their offers when they made their firm/insurance choice, now that’s been confirmed by the unis because the offer conditions have been met.

ComingInByAnsible · 14/08/2026 19:25

Agree with @BlackBean2023, @bluefineliner, @AuntyBulgaria, I have really appreciated the support on this thread.

I am also struggling to keep with with the exam results one, still trying to catch up with everyone’s news!

Once this one fills up and the dust settles on the results, shall we have a ‘Fledglings 2026 support and looking after each other’ thread as they go off to unis, apprenticeships and other adventures?

Keeping @Ventress in our thoughts always ❤️

This has been a lovely group of people, it would be nice to keep in touch as our YP move on.

HighburyHope · 14/08/2026 20:35

Yes please to "Fledglings". My fledgling has admitted to feeling apprehensive about going away. I think it's the cat she'll miss most!

MiniMidiMaxi · 14/08/2026 22:35

@HighburyHope did yesterday go ok for your DD? I don’t think I saw any post from you on the other thread (though may have been lost in the influx!)

Fabfabfab · 14/08/2026 23:38

A new Fledgings thread would be great - so many lovely people on here and I've really valued connecting with you :)

Hoping @Ventress sees some of our messages and if so, sending you and your DC all our love and best wishes
