D’oh. Sorry @JustHereWithMyPopcorn!

that essay sounds interesting @TruffulaTree. Hope your dd does well today in her last exam 😊

Lalux · 16/06/2026 11:00

DS has just messaged me to say Biology OCR was probably a harder than average paper but feels ok about how it went. 2 subjects done just Maths to go on Thursday! Hope everyone else came out feeling positive.

Glittertwins · 16/06/2026 11:11

Edexcel A final biology paper was apparently amazing so I’m praying for a good grade!

Wehaditsogood · 16/06/2026 14:32

I have just read the UKHSA's letter about the Men b vaccination program. Invite seems to be by letter and vaccines provided by participating community pharmacies.

Just checking to see how was Chemi and Bio, looks like it went well :)
A Bio tutor I follow put up messages in the morning about weird essays too. DD today morning said she had a dream about someone handing her a chemistry a paper straight after physics and she finished and went to ask for paper 3, next day! She say she may as well get her grade lol.
I am glad she dropped, people were really helpful on this thread when I didn’t know that was an option.

now last few of us have Maths on 18th!! :)
And Prom on 20th, dress is here, no shoe to go with, nothing else decided, so it’s not just boys thing! Some kids 😂

Glittertwins · 16/06/2026 16:29

Thank you @Wehaditsogood

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 16/06/2026 17:03

DS thinks he messed up the final politics paper which is frustrating as it's his favourite and best topic usually. He said he ran out of time. Hope it's OK. That's his last exam so now just a wait until the results day!

HighburyHope · 16/06/2026 17:05

DD now out of Edexcel Pol 3 and very happy with her 30-mark essay questions (roughly: Is the Presidency imperial? And: Should the Presidential electoral process be reformed?). Apparently the 12- mark questions weren't the most straightforward but overall she's happy. Hope it went well for others.

Edited to add: obviously this is the USA option.

HighburyHope · 16/06/2026 17:07

X-posted, @Desperatelyseekinglazysusan - which board was he doing? Hope it went better than he felt it did.

It was Edexcel but the global politics option. It's something he really enjoys and wants to do for his degree. I think in some ways he knows too much random stuff about it so finds it difficult to tailor what he knows to the questions. Yes hopefully he's done enough.

Wehaditsogood · 16/06/2026 17:25

Apparently, our prom is not called prom and is probably black-tie. Or not. "How would I know, Mom?!" Argh! Breathe.... Two more days of this.

Ventress · 16/06/2026 18:06

Good luck today everyone- you got this! 🌟💪

oh, the prom! Talking to a friend yesterday afternoon, with a dd at a different school to DS, and they are just as lost and confused as us!

AuntyBulgaria · 16/06/2026 18:16

DS' prom is on 25th. It's in a different venue (ie not school) but it's supposed to be smart.
I was reading another thread about proms and how different they are across the country. Some kids all arrive in limos etc.

My son will be going on the bus! It is a fairly small school 6th form. Can't be more that 60 of them so it will be low key. But it definitely end of an era and I think the teachers go as well - so should be a laugh.

I can bet that no photos will be taken .

Thanks for sharing this. DC has had his first dose (decided to go ahead anyway) but hoping, like @Ventress, that we can get the second dose on the NHS...

Fabfabfab · 16/06/2026 18:48

Since finishing exams, DC has been busy seeing friends and girlfriend and playing sport, but very much mixing this with sleeping lots and leaving his washing up in the sink which is rather annoying! We had a lovely time going out to his favourite resultant to celebrate over the weekend and he's been in a really good mood which has been lovely after all the stress and grumpiness during the exams! Good luck to those of you with an exam to go, the end is in sight!

I found this under Annex A so I think it will be fine to get the 2nd dose on the NHS.

That is a screenshot and it will probably take a while to be approved but is saying what to do if someone has already had a dose which is to give them another one at least 28 days later.

As long as they had the Bexsero. If they are half way through the other vaccine - Trumenba then they can start again with Bexsero on the NHS or finish the Trumenba privately.

TruffulaTree · 16/06/2026 19:18

DS is still feeling a bit mixed about his final Biology paper today, but I hope that's just Leaver's emotional turmoil. Some of them just go Yippeee! and reach for a beer and sleep in lots. This is not the Way of my son. Grin I think it'll take a good long time for things to settle down for him, and for him to get used to all this time. And his beloved cat went missing at the weekend so he's had that going on this week too.

Congratulations to all the finishers! May they feel proud of themselves, and enjoy their downtime, however they like to do that. And not leave dirty plates in the sink for the fairies.

Echobelly · 16/06/2026 21:12

All done! DC pleasantly surprised by how well biology papers have gone I think.

I've said goodbye to them as I'm at choir rehearsal until 10 and they'll be in bed when I get back. Taxi coming at 4am to take them and friends to airport. I'm going to be a little tense until I know they're on the plane OK. DC is very sensible and good in a crisis but I'm a bit nervous in case I've somehow got something wrong booking them in and it's different when you're not there!

ComingInByAnsible · 16/06/2026 22:20

Congratulations @Echobelly’s DC! Glad to read that the last exam went well. Hope they have a lovely holiday!

Oh no, @TruffulaTree, hope the cat is found soon! Congratulations to your DS on finishing, I am sure he can unwind at his own pace.

Thanks very much for posting the Men B letter, @Wehaditsogood and the appendix screenshot, @ArchitectureMum. Like @Fabfabfab and @Ventress, hope DS can have the second dose on the NHS. Luckily he had Bexsero as his first.

DD16 has now finished her GCSE marathon so we were finally able to celebrate with her and DS the end of the double exam season in the Ansible household! Proms x 2 on two consecutive days at the end of next week, luckily all clothes sorted, just need to pick up DS’ DJ from the dry cleaners.

Best of luck for the last few exams to those still going - it will all be over in just a few days! 🍀

Reading the thread, it looks like quite a few bedrooms around the country are getting cleaner or about to get cleaner!

Echobelly · 16/06/2026 22:25

Mazel tov on the end of all the exams @ComingInByAnsible !

ComingInByAnsible · 16/06/2026 22:31

Thank you, @Echobelly!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/06/2026 07:38

Good luck to all of our exam takers today.

DS tried on his prom suit etc last night but can’t decide between his brown shoes and his black ones! Decisions decisions!

Its been like a small miracle here. Even the lego sets were getting cleaned with a small paintbrush! 😂I now have to deal with the small matter of me being the only one in the house who is out all day at work, (DH works from home, and not that much tbh!) and two children are at home having finished exams.. but no-one seems to think about the fact that the dog needs to be walked and the washing up needs to get done. If I walk in from work one more time and the washing up is all over the kitchen worktop, the dog is looking neglected and dinner needs to be prepared, I may go slightly insane!
