Wow, I’ve blinked and the thread is half-full! Will catch up on everyone’s updates. 🙂

Great news about the Men B vaccine - as it happens, DS had his first dose yesterday. There is a case at our local uni and we are also not far from Reading, the pharmacist was telling us that he’s been vaccinating quite a few Reading students.

Hopefully DS can have his second dose on the NHS. BBC news says they’ll be contacted early July, I think.

DD16 is also booked for her vaccine after the end of her GCSEs - now wondering whether to cancel and wait till Year 13.

MamOfTwo · Yesterday 08:30

Although I have already paid for first dose - not sure if they would refund? Hmm

we have already paid for dose. 1 today so are going ahead, not sure about dose 2,,.

MamOfTwo · Yesterday 09:44

Thanks @Ventress .

We booked online for Boots and this is what it says on FAQs page:

I’ve paid online but I no longer want the vaccination. Can I get a refund? Yes, if you haven’t yet had the appointment, you can cancel your order by going to My Orders in your account here. This will refund the payment to your original payment method. Please allow up to 14 days for the refund to appear on your account.

Good luck to exam takers today!

I'm slightly miffed about the Men B thing after having DS vaccinated in April and early May. Mainly because I was told categorically by the pharmacist that the NHS wouldn't do it. It was the right thing to do at the time as the Henley / Reading outbreak was a bit too close for comfort.

Ventress · Yesterday 11:16

Thanks @MamOfTwothats helpful. If it hadn’t been this morning, and we hadn’t already paid, I probably would have cancelled. Although, as DH says, we will beat the rush this way!

Glittertwins · Yesterday 13:44

The Times says first jabs to be rolled out in July with the follow up in August. I think I might contact our local surgery to find out when I can make the appointments

I read it will be from late July - and will be offered in pharmacies not GP practices. Young people will receive a link to book in early July

Newlease · Yesterday 15:09

Just catching up, too many messages since I last posted. Thanks for the recipe thread @ventressDD can do a spag Bol that can last for 5 days, one or two dishes and she will be fine!
@JustHereWithMyPopcornMaths ed ex paper 2, was ignored yesterday for today’s FM, which is very difficult according to DD. Maths was meh, and now trying to cram and made this up for next paper on 18th
Few of them found an app for something last week for FM and paid, have been trying to catch up ever since! Not sure she slept yesterday, messaged me to say she feels sick, half an hour before exam! Very anxiously waiting here!!! Needs Astar on this and it doesn’t help that FM paper 3 online answers made her realise that she had more errors than originally thought.
I think my wine days will be from now until results :(
Next Thursday is last day for us, then Girls trip to Italy, and family visit. I really hope she will have time to find a job, do driving lessons and what not
Did anyone else look at train travel cards? DDs expired after she turned 18, but then I thought we can do in Sep

bluefineliner · Yesterday 15:32

@Newlease hope today's exam went ok for your DD despite the pre exam nerves. I am always in awe of anyone doing A level maths, I tried it once upon a time and dropped it pretty quickly!

DD was very happy with AQA bio 2 this morning, the best paper she's had so far so we are all relieved ahead of the final two paper 3s next week for bio and chem.

We go on holiday the week after next and after last summer's holiday being overshadowed by UCAT prep this one will be a true relaxation for DD (and us!).

Hope everyone else's exams went ok today.

Glittertwins · Yesterday 15:45

@vitevin - yes, the surgery said we will be contacted directly by the NHS.

MiniMidiMaxi · Yesterday 16:29

No news yet from DS about FM, he’s gone straight to his girlfriend’s house so will be patient rather than nag him over WhatsApp. That leaves him with two more exams, finishing on Thursday. @bluefineliner good news about biology!

I’ve finally started thinking about our upcoming holiday and have ordered a new suitcase and some packing cubes. We haven’t done many family holidays by plane so are used to being able to just fill the car, will have to be more measured this time!

It does feel nearly there now! My GCSE boy only has one more exam, finally feeling like I can breathe a bit.

wonderstuff · Yesterday 16:31

@ComingInByAnsible I don’t know what to do about my year 11, he’s going to a really large 6th form, they haven’t said they’ll continue to vaccinate year 13 in future.. not sure.

MamOfTwo · Yesterday 16:36

DD is over the finishing line! Sociology 3 was 'good'. Now just the looooooong wait til results day! Good luck to all who are still plodding through (YP and parents!)

I’ve just seen about the men b vaccine, I have been waiting until after the exams to book it so this is great news

Yes me too. That's great news! So do they have to download the NHS app? It's a hard one when they are suddenly "adults" at 18 and are responsible for all of this stuff themselves!

AuntyBulgaria · Yesterday 17:03

@Newlease @MiniMidiMaxi was that FM stats today? my DS does not do that option. He has further pure a week today and it's his final exam. Only that and maths to go!

MiniMidiMaxi · Yesterday 17:08

@AuntyBulgaria yes FM stats today. There are so many option combinations, it’s confusing! DS just messaged me and said it was ‘pretty good’ thankfully, it’s his least favourite part of Maths.

Muchtoomuchtodo · Yesterday 17:19

WJEC further maths seems to have gone well so that’s DS all done now!

He’s already in the pub - first legitimate drinks as an adult!

The finishing line is in sight now for everyone. Keep on going.

@Desperatelyseekinglazysusan good point about the NHS app. I’ll have to get DS sorted with that

SilverBlue4 · Yesterday 17:30

Mine was doing AQA FM mechanics and discrete today
He actually almost finished it which is unusual, so, happy with that! 🙂

After this week having four whole days to revise for two exams feels good - comp sci Wednesday morning and maths 3 on Thursday pm.

WE ARE DONE!

DD is at the pub and I’m enjoying not having to nag!

AuntyBulgaria · Yesterday 19:16

Well done to all those that have finished! It's very exciting! And at last the sun has come out.

I do feel quite miffed that he's got one on the last day, when some.of his friends were almost finished after half term!

I cannot wait to stop nagging! Or as I try to think of it coaxing and persuading. Even resulted in asking AI how to motivate Dd in this last week.

AuntyBulgaria · Yesterday 20:19

@SilverBlue4 my DS doesn't finish until Friday 19 afternoon!

Ugh, what subject/ board is that? Further maths seems to be variable by paper number / combination of topics and board..but I thought everyone was done on the 18th unless they needed to use a contingency day.
