@JustHereWithMyPopcorn sorry to hear your DS found it tricky. My DS thought it was easier than paper 1 but is aware that he made some silly mistakes which he is frustrated by.

HereWeAreToday · 11/06/2026 16:16

Sorry to hear that. Dd thought it was okay - but just doing the Tik tok watching and gradually realising that it might not have gone okay!

Bless her! We always tell DS to focus what he can control, which is preparing for the next exam.
This is going to be a long summer.

Ventress · 11/06/2026 16:37

I’m so sorry to hear that @JustHereWithMyPopcornhopefully DS is catastrophising and everything will be fine once he has eaten and calmed down a bit 🤞

i hope everyone taking maths this afternoon was okay with the paper. One more maths paper to go?!

you are not over invested @Wehaditsogood we are so tightly wound up by these exams and next steps . I hope his revision schedule is okay from here.

Lalux · 11/06/2026 16:43

Sorry to hear that @JustHereWithMyPopcorn

I haven’t seen DS yet but got a thumbs up so I’m taking that as a positive. He’s now just over halfway through with 4 more exams to go! Biology 2 tomorrow which is the one he’s been dreading.

Wehaditsogood · 11/06/2026 16:45

@Ventress He is not planning to leave the house or watch the World Cup till next Thursday. And then he can be with his friends 🧡 I didn't plan any of this for him. It is his choice. Although us parents will have to leave the house next Thursday. Party time 🥳 🤣
I told DS that we would find a solution as a family whatever grades he gets. It will be OK. He will always have our support.
This is hopefully true for all our children / adult children.

SilverBlue4 · 11/06/2026 16:52

My son thought his (AQA) was ok although he knows he was confused by one question and has worked out to do it after he's come out which is quite annoying as he had 20 mins left he could have used.

He is blessed with the ability to very rapidly forget about what the questions were, how many marks thy were and whether he managed them all so he doesn't stew over any papers. Good job really as it's further maths 3 tomorrow which is likely to be the worst 😩

8 down 3 to go 🎉

Sorry your DS is unhappy @JustHereWithMyPopcorn, hopefully it will have gone better than he’s feeling right now. Sounds like there was more time pressure for this one. DS seems happy enough, but his head is straight into Stats for tomorrow’s FM, which is his least favourite paper.

Thanks for starting the recipe thread @Ventress - and glad that you posted it in Higher Ed vs Food/Recipes as I’m not sure they are typically aiming for those culinary standards!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 11/06/2026 17:29

Thanks all, I’m actually really pleased to hear that the other DCs found it better than Paper 1. DS has calmed down (he does indeed catastrophise!) and thinks it’s wasn’t that awful but it didn’t go as well as he hoped. He has since looked at answers online and - assuming they are correct- has hopefully done better than he first thought. He’s much happier now in any case. I have told him to stop worrying about it and we just focus on the last leg of exams. Chemistry on Monday and Maths on Wednesday and try to knock both out of the park as best he can. Currently he’s chatting with his mates and having a cider! 🙂.

Tebheag · 11/06/2026 17:29

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn hopefully it's not as bad as he thinks.
I couldn't find the receipe thread DS not going to uni but expecting him to do some cooking etc while we continue funding him while he job hunts.

Good luck for those sitting exams tomorrow sounds like it has been a long week for some.

Absolutely, whatever our dc get we will support them through it 💐 I’m sure your son will be okay and get his firm uni.

AQA Maths paper 2 was not as good as paper 1 for DD but not a disaster. The pure went worse than the mechanics surprisingly with a difficult 6 marker that she didn’t get and a few other bits and pieces.

4 down, 2 to go. One week from now it will be all over.

Glad that Edexcel Maths was a bit better today by the sounds of things and great that History went well and is finished.

hels71 · 11/06/2026 19:00

DD said maths 2 went better than maths 1 (AQA) . Just maths 3 to go....on the day I have a hospital appointment to discuss surgery to remove an unidentified thing from my lung....

Glittertwins · 11/06/2026 19:03

Edexcel maths 2 wasn’t as bad as the first one thankfully.

Ventress · 11/06/2026 21:17

Thank you @MiniMidiMaxi. Yes, great replies 😊 I do want DS to be a decent cook and we have plenty of time to teach him. Apparently he was still asleep and in bed when DH got home at almost 3pm! This will change when I’m back 💪

Please contribute to the thread if you can, there are some really good ideas (and some I’m going to try just as part of our regular meal list!) . I didn’t even think about posting in food 😱

I’m glad our dc are getting through the exams. It’s a daunting and exhausting time for them (and us!)

Your son will have done well @JustHereWithMyPopcornI don’t doubt it 🌟

hopefully you can find the new thread now, thanks to @MiniMidiMaxi@Tebheag

I hope the surgery goes well @hels71- I realise
It’s not scheduled yet but very best of luck.

Good luck everyone for biology and maths 3 tomorrow 🤞

wonderstuff · 11/06/2026 23:39

OCR maths was alright. She was a bit concerned it was it was either easy or really difficult without many intermediate questions. It’s a long wait until paper 3 now. She’s not a big fan of paper 3, too much reading.

Good news, nhs is going to offer men b vaccine to students in current year 13. They will get a notification through nhs app.

bluefineliner · Yesterday 07:17

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn hopefully it wasn't as bad as he thinks, hindsight comes with more negativity once they start looking at 'unofficial' mark schemes in my experience. DD has convinced herself she's got more wrong than she originally thought on bio 1 after looking at one (which ofc I advised against).

@wonderstuff good news about the vaccine, I will have to keep an eye out to ensure DD has it.

Biology paper 2 this morning for DD. She's well prepared but it's all down to the questions they throw at them! Final papers Mon and Tues, can't come soon enough 😁.

Good luck to anyone else with exams today 🍀.

DS’s meningitis B is booked at boots today! Oh well.

Good luck to all our yp for their exams today - you got this! 💪🌟

HereWeAreToday · Yesterday 07:22

I’ve just seen about the men b vaccine, I have been waiting until after the exams to book it so this is great news

Oh that’s great news!

I was planning to book for later this month after exams etc.

Fabfabfab · Yesterday 07:43

@wonderstuff That's great news. DC has his booked in for next week though at Boots. Do you happen to know when we will hear from the NHS? Not sure whether to cancel it or not.

gingercat02 · Yesterday 08:07

We were waiting until after exams for private Men B too, delighted there is a full vaccination programme happening 😀

MamOfTwo · Yesterday 08:28

Oh! I booked a Men B vaccine for Tuesday. Not sure whether to cancel. Last exam for DD this afternoon - Sociology 3. She is then off to watch Olivia Dean to celebrate!

MamOfTwo · Yesterday 08:30

Although I have already paid for first dose - not sure if they would refund? Hmm
