A level results day 2021 support thread

I thought it might be nice to have a support thread for us parents? (Can't see one in further Ed yet??)
It's been such a difficult time for our kids - and for us! - but the end is in sight!
Ds will get an e mail at 8.30am (apparently) and can go into college in person if he needs help/advice.

Email confirmation from Exeter arrived first.

Just got results 3 A*. DD very, very, happy.

DS managed to get on Track eventually. He then got his result email from the school.

Ds's place at his firm, Warwick has been confirmed!!!! Woohoo! I'm almost crying. He's all calm. Still not got his results yet. But I'm so excited.

DS got his firm choice, Lancaster but is a bit disappointed with one of his results so not very happy at the moment. But sure that will fade with time. All about moving on.

Results in, distinction star, A, A which in theory means Loughborough but no confirmation until ucas is back on line! So pleased with the results though, as is DS!

D.C. bombed exams😫 Track says didn’t meet conditional offer for insurance option. Firm option isn’t updated, how can we check if there is an offer for the firm choice? No email from Uni.

Sorry to hear that, @MMMMMaria. The firm choice may still be deciding. If it hasn't updated I think you phone once lines are open; but that's only based on one of the links I read yesterday, not experience.

@MMMMMaria Sorry ... that means DC will have been rejected by firm too - insurance can only consider once rejected by firm

You need to help DC look at options incl clearing

Track saying hasn’t updated since June…

DD didn't get UCL but got Queen Mary, absolutely distraught.

Shes going to go in and see what her grades were and see if her teachers feel there is any grounds for appeal. She was predicted AAA

She just said I feel so dumb, broke my heart

DS got accepted at Loughborough, even though he got well below needed grades? He got a conditional offer for A*AA, results were AAB but he still got in?

Now worried there’s a mistake?

Maria - phone first choice and see if they’ll accept. If not have a look at clearing courses - there are still some good options out there.

Both DTs confirmed now - v happy and relieved! Only one set of results in, though, because typically they chose to receive them in different ways - DT2 by email, DT1 getting ready to go in to school at 9

Insurance will only consider a student after Firm has rejected. If a narrow miss it might be worth a call or see if a related course at same uni is in Clearing, or subjectwith a foundation year.

DS got an unconditional offer from his insurance but no news from his firm. How does that work?

UCAS confirmed place for Swansea. Off to get results now. So relieved. Had to wake DS up, then shower etc. He's so chilled. I was not! ✨😯
