showed not should!

ProggyMat · 17/07/2021 08:39

@Alsoplayspiccolo it’s difficult to tell without seeing the print out. That said, DDs school didn’t give the full print out - just ‘chance graphs’ and standardised score. It’s best to see the scores across all sections particularly for those with ‘spiky profiles’
This is more helpful than my attempts to explain:

I've just been listening to the news. Flu vaccines for all under 16's. So our year group won't get one, not that I mind, but they also won't get covid vaccines either as they aren't 18. Protection from one would be helpful. Ds3 has had a flu vaccine each year at school. DH has had a flu vaccine for 20 years or so because he gets a chest infection if he gets a cold.

Then flu vaccine and covid booster for over 50's. I'm 49 😩

CLEARING SEARCH :-) I found Paddingtons link. I also discovered that if you Control F on a thread you can do a search - learn something new every day (yes I know Im very late to this party) :-)

PaddingtonPaddington

It’s on the search tool: digital.ucas.com/search put in course then it had a pop up asking if looking for a course in clearing

Oblomov21 · 17/07/2021 09:19

Favour please.
All the Accountants and Financial people who posted accounting / finance links on the last thread please could you post them again.

I remember that there was a summer camp week of work experience on offer, and also 2 big firms not top 4 offering apprenticeships or to pay for them to go through uni.

I am prepared to do the donkey work and will trawl through last thread , trying to find, but I thought I'd ask you all to repost.

I had mentioned these to my ds1, but I need to action them / get him to action them.

but now I've been asked by a friend with a 17 year-old son to share.

Zandathepanda · 17/07/2021 09:34

icanbe Hopefully you have Boots near you. Go on to Boots website and book your flu jab for you and your year12. I think it was about £10 last year. We got it far quicker than if we waited to get it free.

EverythingDelegated · 17/07/2021 09:51

Flu jab info is interesting. So DD (15) will get a flu jab bit no covid jab, DS 17 had a covid jab 9 (was in group 6 due to autism) but this may not qualify him for a flu jab. I tried getting them both private flu jabs last year and gave up, not all branches of Boots that do jabs do them for under 16s and availability was so scarce plus we would have needed time off work/school so we didn't do it.

EverythingDelegated · 17/07/2021 10:08

Thanks for the clearing info again, useful.

stoneysongs · 17/07/2021 10:21

This is the website where you can see how many UCAS points people on each course actually achieved.

Now I want to know what they were offered, too!

There's a nifty tool where you can bookmark and then compare two courses side by side, with lots of info, including from student surveys (just keep scrolling right when you get to that bit, it goes on and on)

Piggywaspushed · 17/07/2021 10:56

Which university and Unifrog also tell you the average actual entry grades.

Monkey2001 · 17/07/2021 11:40

This is a link shared by our school which you might find helpful, particularly if your DC doesn't know what they want to do next. www.theparentsguideto.co.uk/whats-next

stoneysongs · 17/07/2021 12:18

Thanks, Piggy

Oblomov21 · 17/07/2021 12:50

Thank you Sprouts, that Mazars link was the exact one I was thinking of.

In my trawling I've already found a great post from FrequentFlier whose ds teacher had posted loads of info re business/economics/finance advice generally.

But there is more. More about other opportunities, work experience, getting one of the Top firms to support you / nigh on pay for you to go through Uni. Now I cant find it all.
Even though I've spent over an hour searchig already.

I cant even remember who posted it: one of the Accountants?
CrazyCrofter, MirandaWest, Sandy's Dh? Bugger.

Wish I'd taken notes at the time. Cross with myself.

I'm off. To read through every single post from Thread 14,15,16.
That'll teach me!!

Oblomov21 · 17/07/2021 13:04

There was an opportunity for a weeks accountancy work experience, this summer, summer 2021, with 2 choices, london or dorset. I think. Or similar. I cant remember. But it wasn't the mazars link. But now I can't find it.

Oblomov21 · 17/07/2021 13:09

It wasn't for a graduate, not an intern, it was a work experience for a 6th former.

Orangecinnamon21 · 17/07/2021 13:34

@Oblomov21 @Heifer posted a link to this site in the last thread

@Zandathepanda thanks...last year when I asked about paying for flu vaccines, they said they wouldn't be available until all over 50's had been done. I will look into it again this year. For me anyway.

Ds2 says one 17 year old at school has had his second covid vaccine because his dad has diabetes and is at risk. I didn't know about that.

Oblomov21 · 17/07/2021 13:59

Thank you Orange.
icanbe....Hmm wonder if I too can pull that one to get my 2 vaccinated?

Zandathepanda · 17/07/2021 14:05

icanbe I just went onto the Boots website yesterday and booked 4 flu jabs for us all in September. The slots are available for all. As far as I can tell Dd1 is the only one who will pay. But I think they establish that on the day.

Zandathepanda · 17/07/2021 14:16

I got vaccinated earlier than my age group as I am the main carer for Dd. If I am ill and Dd has a seizure, she may be in trouble (DH sleeps through anything except natural disasters, whereas I wake up for children as little as sneezing but have been known to sleep through earthquakes). I wonder if, if you are a single parent with a health condition particularly, you could get your DC jabbed as they could take on a caring role if you were sick? Tenuous but maybe a possibility. Also I have heard a few older 17 year olds getting done as they will be 18 by the 2nd jab.

Zandathepanda · 17/07/2021 15:44

Dd says there’s a Twitter rumour that Javid got covid from one of his school aged children. Has anyone else heard this? There isn’t an emoji to express the range of emotions on how I feel about that! On a practical note I would have thought his children weren’t in school as their private schools would have broken up.

Monkey2001 · 17/07/2021 16:13

Hmmm, well it is definitely true that he has caught covid and as he represents Bromsgrove, where rates are very high, it is definitely feasible that he caught it from his children. I agree that it would be totally deserved that having less a policy which forces teenagers to develop herd immunity by catching covid, there would be an element of justice. I am going to try taking DS2 to get a jab, DH had a heart attack at Christmas, which put him in a priority category, so will try that basis. I am not very politically active, but am SO angry with our pathetic government right now. Angry

Zandathepanda · 17/07/2021 16:26

Monkey2001 sorry to hear about your Dh. Yes it puts a different slant on it when you have a vulnerable family member. I am so cross they couldn’t have waited until the Uni students age group were vaccinated then school kids should have the option over the summer. I particularly ‘loved’ a scientist saying it may not be safe for 16 year old children when all the 16-18 cev and cv have already been vaccinated. They are guinea pigs and have been ok so at least do the 16-18s before school starts.
