Please can I remind you to check that your DCs meningitis jabs are all up to date. My DN and DsiL have both been hospitalised with it over the last couple of years and college students tend to be vulnerable. Southampton Uni is currently trialling a new Men b vaccine amongst 24,000 college students, but other vaccines are available against other strains for all. Our DC can decide for themselves if they wish to have them now they are 16.

They had a talk on it at DS's sixth form but there hasn't been any follow-up. I could check with the GP though, thanks for reminding me!
DS is doing AS levels and possibly a good thing in his case. He's more concerned about the huge amount of homework - so far he's just about keeping it and his music activities going. Thank goodness for the free periods but there are very few of those!

Good to hear that the new school has proven to a great fit for your ds Whistl Smile

Thanks for the reminder Sticker, dd will be taking up the vaccination offered at college, but I will check her vacc status for the other strains. I hope your DN and DsiL made a good recovery with no long term health implications

I was pondering the possibility of some winter sun during the February half term in Cuba and discussing this around the dinner table, when it was vetoed by dd. Apparently she will have far too much homework over Feb half term and since much of it will be Art, she can't take it with her …… I'm not sure if she is being overly dramatic / unreasonable, but as a SAD sufferer I could have really done with some winter sun Sad

We need a new thread title and new thread imminently - only 46 messages to go

bpisok · 31/10/2018 10:43

Can't think of a title but the GCSEs 2018 prefix should probably be dropped now since we are trundling through to A Levels.

Year 12 no. 1 (GCSE 2018 no more)

??

whistl · 31/10/2018 11:07

Year 12 #1 GCSE '18 no more

bpisok · 31/10/2018 12:10

That's a good enough title for me.
...pretty sure the title for the following one (or one after that?) will be inspired by end of year exams, grade predictions and Uni applications.
I wonder if we (or should I say,I?) will be as frazzled and fraught as at GCSE time?

whistl · 31/10/2018 12:19

bpisok given the reactions of those of us who had a year 13 DC and a year 11 DC last May/ June and again in August, I think we will look back at 2018 as just the warm up for 2020! (Unfortunately!)

whistl · 31/10/2018 12:24
