Would he be able to request redeployment to a different role as a reasonable adjustment under the DDA? Maybe he doesn't have that sort of contract and if you don't want to discuss it here that would be understandable. If so sorry if I'm being clumsy.

AlexanderHamilton · 07/09/2018 09:52

He does have a co-ordinator role following a promotion last year which has meant more admin/less actual teaching but he needs to have discussions with them. But the main issue is the dizziness. If he can't drive he can't get there also when he gets the vertigo attacks he can't do much other than lie down.

Anyway on the upside dd felt her ballet assessment went "OK as well as could be expected" but her jazz went really well and she didn't think the standard was as high as she'd expected so whilst she expects to be in the B stream for ballet she's hoping for the A stream for jazz.

I am sort to see your update, AH. I was hoping that it might take some time, but eventually life would return to normal.

Is the dizziness an inner ear problem, or is it too early to know?

It could be inner ear if its something like Menieres or Lyme.

Ggirl27 · 07/09/2018 12:57

Am waiting for my DS to get back from college - he is enjoying it so far and the stresses of the getting him in are now dissipating. Thought you all may find it amusing that his new A level subject teacher taught me the same A level subject 30 years ago. Awkward Shock Grin

ShalomJackie · 07/09/2018 12:58

KickBishop - DS got his edexcel remark back on the Monday after being submitted the previous Thursday. Maybe the school waits and submits them all at once at your school?

TwinPlusOne - how stressful!! Good job DH was around.

AlexanderH - Sad

re the remark that went down 10 marks and down a grade after being 1 mark off the higher, although it said AQA it didn't say which subject and what grade from and to.

ShalomJackie · 07/09/2018 13:00

Apparently English - not sure if Lit or Lang

JufusMum · 07/09/2018 16:33

Alexander very sorry to hear about your DH. I hope the doctors can get to the bottom of it.

DD has completed day two of sixth form and has very heavy textbooks.

Oratory1 · 07/09/2018 17:26

Jufus I hope its going well and she (and you) are enjoying being away from SfH !

Can't wait to see DS tomorrow, though its only been 3 days - I have missed him and there will be a lot to catch up on already.

JufusMum · 07/09/2018 17:47

Oratory she's loving it feels like a weight has been lifted from both our shoulders x

Kilash · 07/09/2018 17:58

Gosh Flowers to Jingle and Alexander Such difficult things to navigate.

It sounds like all the dc have had a good start which makes everything worthwhile.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 07/09/2018 18:04

Ggirl is it the same college or have you been stalking the teacher? Wink

Jufus a weight lifted and then replaced by heavy textbooks? Grin

brainmelt · 07/09/2018 18:46

Hello everyone, I have also been absent because my FIL died a few days ago. We buried him yesterday. He was like a dad to me and always a gentleman. DH was very dedicated to helping him the last couple of years and I think the emptiness is going to be very hard. Jingle I am sorry to hear you are going through the same.
Also Alexander sending lots of strength.

I'm consoled when I see DS in his Sixth form clothes, so grown up, taller in a metaphorical way. He loved today (first day of lessons for him). Also several of his friends came after school to the funeral gathering to be with him and I was very moved by that.

PeggyIsInTheNarrative · 07/09/2018 18:52

Brainmelt Flowers for you snd your family.

Theworldisfullofgs · 07/09/2018 18:59

brainmelt I'm so sorry.

eaglefly · 07/09/2018 19:10

So sorry brainmelt

JufusMum · 07/09/2018 19:11

Brainmelt so sorry for your loss xxx

Cherryburn · 07/09/2018 19:31

So sorry brainmelt. That’s lovely that your DS’s friends came to support him.

Ggirl27 · 07/09/2018 19:40

@EllenJanesthickerknickers She got a new job in the sixth form college when my school sixth form closed the year I left. She's obviously been there ever since!

Jinglebells99 · 07/09/2018 19:50

@brainmelt I’m so sorry for your loss, my condolences to your family. Aw, how lovely that his friends came to the funeral gathering.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 07/09/2018 20:01

That's sad brainmelt. Flowers I'm sure his grandson made him proud.

AChickenCalledKorma · 07/09/2018 21:02

So sorry to hear that brainmelt. How touching that your son's friends were supporting him. And Alexander I'm aching for you and your DH - I'm sure everything feels extremely uncertain right now. Such a lot of difficult stuff going on at the moment Sad.

Stickerrocks · 07/09/2018 21:02

Brainmelt your FiL sounds very kind and it must have e7bbed off on your D'S if his friends are so caring.

Alexander Your DD is being incredibly resilient under the circumstances. You must all be reeling. Do you have any insurance policies which could give you a cushion if DH needs to rethink his career or is he in a union or professional body which may provide some kind of advice line or career support?

Jingle we're still here if you want us.

ggirl Does he still look the same or gas he aged well/badly?

I'm not sure if I've missed anyone, but what a lit of news to catch up on. Lots of new beginnings.

BlueBelle123 · 07/09/2018 22:23

Brainmelt so sorry for your loss Flowers

brainmelt · 07/09/2018 22:56
