Carrying on from previous thread

I'm so rubbish with thread titles. Anyway...

This time last year there was lots of chat about tests/exams/mocks at this point. Are there fewer of them, or is everyone more chilled about them?

So sorry catslife.

HesMyLobster · 22/01/2018 12:59

Catslife I'm so sorry, that is very sad newsThanks

DD is planning a holiday with friends to either Italy or Greece apparently. No idea how she will be paying for it though as she's already spent every penny on festival tickets . . Hmm

She says she'll get some extra hours at her waitressing job after exams, but I pointed out there literally weren't enough hours for her to earn enough to pay for it even if she worked 24 hours a day!

I think she's hoping grandparents might offer and what's worse is she's probably right!

FantasyAndHope · 22/01/2018 12:59

cats
How tragic, hope your okay

UrsulaPandress · 22/01/2018 13:04

DD has booked a girls holiday in Crete for after the exams.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/01/2018 13:08

I don't think dd has any summer plans other than vague 'earn money, catch up with driving lessons' plans. I reckon I'm going to take her away for a mum daughter trip somewhere for a few days.

That's sad cats, I'm sorry for your loss.
💐

Dd has more exams this week. I'll be glad when they're finished (Wednesday apparently). So far she's had a terrible Physics exam (she got the result for that one back and it was a B, not as terrible as if been led to believe), and an absolutely abysmally bad further maths one (no results for that one, but apparently the other 2 need to be amazing if she's going to get anything higher than a D overall Hmm). I can't cope with any more disasters.

I'm poorly in bed today. Nothing major, but I'm feeling sorry for myself Sad

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/01/2018 13:15

Dd has some vague plans with friends to go to a nerd festival in the summer. I think it's called something like electromagnetic field, and there's fast internet and stuff to appeal to mega nerds. It may or may not happen, but honestly, I fancy going if none of her friends want to go with her.

starfleet · 22/01/2018 13:59

DS is another one with a holiday booked. There's 7 of them going. I'm thinking it will end up being like an episode of The Inbetweeners.....
He doesn't drink so will probably be on "looking after tipsy friends duty".

He is also planing on a festival - he will be able to fund this and the holiday himself as his xmas temp employers have kept him on. That's if he stops buying concert tickets!

He's had a letter this weekend from one of his uni choices offering him an academic scholarship. He's a bit Hmm

starfleet · 22/01/2018 14:00

planning!

Icouldbeknitting · 22/01/2018 14:04

Catslife I'm so sorry. I was very upset by the repeated question from the dog walking community that started immediately they found out I was dogless - "will you have another?" I know they meant well and they were all putting themselves in my position but I found it heartless and insensitive. There was a dog shaped hole in my life but it wasn't going to be filled by slapping a random dog straight into it.

It has been another hazard perception test fail here, he was upset on the day but seems to have bounced back. He's a good driver, could maybe do with a bit more confidence at roundabouts but he's safe, good positioning and awareness. I don't know what he is doing wrong on the hazard perception and neither does he. He had a mixture of high marks or zero which was exactly what he came out with last time.

FantasyAndHope · 22/01/2018 14:10

No mentions of holiday plans here. I think dd will be glad to leave and make a fresh start without the drama. I think it will be a case of working to save money for London

Knitting DD had very similar results in the hazard perception bit. She passed but only by the skin of her teeth despite full marks on the multiple choice part.
Has your DS had any access to practice tests? Apparently there are lots available online but not all are true to the real thing.
I'll try and find the link somebody gave me to a good one.

raspberryrippleicecream · 22/01/2018 16:50

I'm so sorry Catslife. What a dreadful thing to happen.

Icouldbe that's rubbish for him. I second the idea he may be pressing too quickly. DD also just passed hers with a mark to spare. It's just a pain to get through it.

Ms AD hope you're feeling better. I had 2 days off last week.

Mocks are apparently dreadful for DD too. Two more this week and it's done.

chocolateworshipper · 22/01/2018 17:13

catslife I am very sorry for your loss. I still get upset now when I think about our dog passing away, but he'd had a good life and was put to sleep, so I can only imagine how awful it is for you to lose a beloved pet in such a tragic way Flowers

MsAD I wish you a speedy recovery Flowers

DD has a concert next month and has informed me that she's going to Wireless - followed by "please could I borrow some money?" Apparently she also wants to go to Reading festival - so goodness knows where that money's supposed to come from. Hmm

starfleet · 22/01/2018 17:20

DS is sulking spectacularly at the moment. He wants to go to Wireless too but it starts the day he goes on holiday. He didn't plan that very well.

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/01/2018 18:39

DS1 is probably going to Reading festival but still waiting for the line-up to be confirmed.

starfleet · 22/01/2018 19:02

He is sulking because he saw the line up today for Wireless and wants to see pretty much everyone who is playing. Some of his friends were faffing around with dates etc for the holiday so it was booked a little later than originally planned. He said he might go to Leeds.

Littledrummergirl · 22/01/2018 19:27
