Carrying on from previous thread

I'm so rubbish with thread titles. Anyway...

This time last year there was lots of chat about tests/exams/mocks at this point. Are there fewer of them, or is everyone more chilled about them?

Good luck to those waiting for news tomorrow

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/01/2018 22:00

I had a lot to catch up on, after you fell off my tios.

Fantasy, glad to see you back. I hope your dd manages to get some answers/treatment for her health issues before her exams. If she doesn't then the exams officer is the person to contact re special conditions for exams (rest breaks, etc).

Raspberry that's fabulous that dd has got the offers she wanted. Shame about the driving test, better luck next time.

Kitten my dd gets very anxious about those sorts of things too. I don't think she's ever managed to phone anyone official, there have been a few times I've had to do it and pretend to be her.

It's nice to see everybody else too, such a lot of offers and mocks and socialising going on.

Dd passed her driving test today Grin. Now I suppose I need to put her onto my insurance Shock Her mocks start in Monday, she left absolutely all school work till Wednesday last week, ie the day before she went back to school! just the same as I did I have a feeling she hasn't done much in the way of revision. I can only hope that she is as good as she thinks she is, or gets a shock with the mocks and revises properly for the real exams.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/01/2018 22:01

aye, good luck people.

Well Done MrsAD's DD! Fab news.

DD says her 2 exams today were pretty horrendous and wishes she'd spent a bit more time on revision over Christmas. She has just gleefully informed me that she only has something like 14 weeks (I can't remember the exact number - too shocked!) left of actual school - EVER! Shock

I have a feeling they're going to fly by.

Good Luck to all with mocks this week.

MrSlant · 09/01/2018 23:30

Nettle your DS sounds so like my DS2, sometimes he is in such a soup of hormones and worry he doesn't know if he is coming or going. GCSE results on Thursday and he's in such a pickle because he really wants to have done well in the maths (that I daren't tell him English uni's don't care about because it's not pure maths).

Woo hoo MrsAD a driving test pass is such a step into the grown up world, so many more things open to her now.

Discovered today that whilst DS1's application has been paid for he hasn't, as yet, gone down to the school office to double check the last details so it's not actually gone out to his two uni's yet. I will be booking an early top up of the hair dye for this one. Talk about leaving it late.

Many, many joints crossed in hope for all the DCs applying to Oxbridge tomorrow. So many deserving children, if they don't get places it's the universities that will be missing out. Good luck and come and update us ASAP!

TheDrsDocMartens · 10/01/2018 00:50

Good luck for tomorrow!
And to those doing mocks. Dd1 is next week.

ShanghaiDiva · 10/01/2018 02:55

Good luck those waiting for Oxbridge emails today. Ds has two friends waiting to hear. They are both overseas students so it will be eye wateringly expensive if they do get in as overseas students pay higher fees and a college fee too and to qualify for the visa need to have 1k per month for living expenses.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2018 06:44

MrsAD that's fab. Well done to your dd!

Eep MrSlant. I hope he manages to get it off soon.

Not much sleep here last night. No idea how I'm going to manage work.

Brilliant news MrsAD.

Thinking of all of you Oxbridge people today!

janinlondon · 10/01/2018 10:53

Good luck today to all the Oxbridge candidates. Does anyone know please if the pre-U results released today will already be showing on Track? (The school is conveniently closed today so we are left hanging.....!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2018 10:54

dd got her place :)

NoHaudinMaWheest · 10/01/2018 11:22

OYBK great news. Congratulations to your dd.

MrsAD congratulations to your dd too.

MrSlant · 10/01/2018 11:36

Oh OYBBK I'm so chuffed for you (well for your DD I suppose) what fantastic news, I've got the warm and fuzzies now. Just holding off phoning DS and demanding to know about his best friend, she's such an amazing young woman I'll be gutted if she doesn't get in .

I suppose I could also phone him to check he's finished the sending in of his application. Grin

Nettleskeins · 10/01/2018 11:55

Yay! Kitten!!!!!!

starfleet · 10/01/2018 12:01

That's brilliant news OYBBK - well done to your DD and well done to your DD too MsAD for passing her driving test.

Icouldbeknitting · 10/01/2018 12:07

Congratulations to the AwesomeDragon household and the Badkitten one too. I know you've had a lot of worry with this OYBBK, hopefully you can relax now.

Nettleskeins · 10/01/2018 12:33

how is ds atm Knitting?

Nettleskeins · 10/01/2018 12:34

MrsDragon very many congratulations on the dd and driving test too.

HesMyLobster · 10/01/2018 13:35

DD got her place at Oxford Smile

Icouldbeknitting · 10/01/2018 13:40

It's not been a good week so far. There's been a hard lesson in how other people's lives go on while you tread water, this may be what he needs to get back to his life and stop avoiding situations where he will have a reminder of his dad. On top of that it was parent's evening, his attendance is at the level where it would warrant disciplinary action if it weren't for the circumstances and he's slipped at least one grade across the board.

I'm not as worried about him as I was before Christmas, he seems to be starting to develop a bit of resilience.

Icouldbeknitting · 10/01/2018 13:41

Congratulations Lobster, I am very pleased for you (and her, but mostly you)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2018 13:45

Thank you everyone Grin I'm such a ridiculous worrier. I think I've set a good example to dd as to how not to raise a child recently!

Lobster, that is so ace! I'm really pleased for your dd :)

knitting, I feel so much for you and your ds. He is doing bloody brilliantly I think in such a difficult time. You've clearly raised a very strong lad.
