I've got the following on my record (to tell social worker):-

-verbal harassment conviction against an adult neighbour expired
-6 defaults against banks, never been bankrupt
-Unstable employment history due to health and caring responsibilities mainley been on benefits last 5 years. Employed for 1 year.
-Previous dispute against social services claiming i refuse to engage in services. Now case closed.
-Diagnosed with tinnitus - minor issue/managable
-No contact details of ex/got divorce certificate
-Income of £400 per month cash in hand
-Savings of £15,040 and some spare change
-Currently giving 25 hours care per week to an autistic individual cash in hand.

Any point in applying?

There’s a link for you. Not really sure why any of us are bothering though.

Op: will I be able to foster with my convictions and taxdodging?

Everyone: No

Op: You are all wrong. insert sassy attitude

Op, I'd consider a different 'career' option

bugaboo218 · 12/03/2021 20:09

I have not read the full thread yet,.

As pp have stated you do need to register as self employed, declare income and do a tax return.

Not doing this really makes me angry, one for the rest of the self employed population out there who do everything legally. What you are doing is giving all SE a bad name.

I am also angry because as a parent of a complex SEN /Autistic child you are possibly imo taking advantage of a vulnerable adult. No contract, no current enhanced DBS I'd bet, first aid? Checkable references? Care Qualification/Certificate? Safer recruitment course? Safeguarding?

Vulnerable Adults and vulnerable lac children need honest adults looking after them, not people like you, who stick two fingers up to the law.

Unsure33 · 12/03/2021 20:12

It’s nothing to do with your convictions , it’s your attitude. If you think you are always right and above the law , how can you hope to guide a child in the right direction?

trying to become a foster carer means going through a lot of hoops & training
It is difficult job & needs skill & commitment - it is 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year - there is a lot of paperwork & record keeping & you will have to submit your tax to HMRC
Anybody tells you that it is an easy earner is lying & the dc who you have to commit & care for will be dc who have passed through complex & often horrendous life situations& they can leave their mark. You will have to work with social workers & keep records
What ever you think about HMRC & tax you have to obey the rules because you will be found out eventually & HMRC are NOT forgiving - I say this as someone who was truly self employed & did the hated tax every year even before I needed to pay it.
If you are on benefits you should declare your earnings if they are above a very small amount & they are on the watch for those who earn on the black.
Last question - is this a wind up? I rather hope so

Chooseausernamenow · 12/03/2021 20:51

You don’t sound suitable at all.

CuteBear · 12/03/2021 20:58

£400 “cash in hand” plus taking money from an autistic person to “provide care.” How much money are you getting per month? That’s basically self-employment except you’re not declaring to HMRC.

Why is your employment so sketchy? Many people with health conditions and disabilities are able to work (unless they are bedbound). Why were you on Universal Credit for so long? What did you do so bad to your neighbour that you were convicted? Why did you not engage with SS?

If I was a social worker, your application would go straight in the bin.

Thatwentbadly · 12/03/2021 21:01

@braveheart2020

I pay enough tax through buying products the government secretly tax every product without informing buyers. Just like VAT.
Secretly taxes thing? Say what? I can’t imagine ss are going to approve a conspiracy theorist who is breaking the law, doesn’t trust ss and who has verbally harassed people.
toocold54 · 12/03/2021 21:16

Previous dispute against social services claiming i refuse to engage in services. Now case closed.

This may be an issue.

I also wanted to be a foster carer but as I work full time they said I couldn’t do both. So I doubt you’d be able to do it if you care for four other people too.

Draculahhh · 12/03/2021 21:17

Fostering children isn't a simple matter of I want to do it and you are then handed a child. You seem to be operating under the assumption that because there is a shortage of Foster carers we will snap your hand off, this is incredibly untrue.

Foster carers are trusted with the wellbeing of the most vulnerable children, some who have been through the most horrific things imaginable. Understandably potential carers are very carefully vetted.

You will be very very closely assessed and interviewed over a long period of time. A conviction wouldn't necessarily exclude someone. However, if you are purely money motivated as I suspect you are, this will become very obvious very quickly and the process will end there.

dodgeitornot · 12/03/2021 21:54

Oh man, I don't have much faith in the SS system but I really hope they can see someone like you shouldn't foster.
Why would you make a thread outlining your history, clearly committing benefit and tax fraud and than bash the people who are giving you constructive criticism?

Littlepaws18 · 12/03/2021 22:03

You have a lot of financial issues and some current questionable ones (cash in hand not declared), you have anti social issues on your record ( yes I know expired). I think you need to secure yourself financially and show that you can control your anti social side first before committing to look after vulnerable children. You just aren't in a stable enough position to foster.

mumwon · 12/03/2021 22:25

prison guards earn decent salaries op -although I am not sure your history would allow you to work there
(that's irony folks! & you know what, I don't think you would be suitable for that either)
