I've got the following on my record (to tell social worker):-

-verbal harassment conviction against an adult neighbour expired
-6 defaults against banks, never been bankrupt
-Unstable employment history due to health and caring responsibilities mainley been on benefits last 5 years. Employed for 1 year.
-Previous dispute against social services claiming i refuse to engage in services. Now case closed.
-Diagnosed with tinnitus - minor issue/managable
-No contact details of ex/got divorce certificate
-Income of £400 per month cash in hand
-Savings of £15,040 and some spare change
-Currently giving 25 hours care per week to an autistic individual cash in hand.

Any point in applying?

So when they ask you what your income is and ask for evidence of this either through pay slips or a tax return, what will you say?

It’s not even that you’ve had a conviction or had issues with social services, it’s your attitude about these things that’s the issue.

puppychaos · 12/03/2021 17:48

If it is to do with the money, OP, foster carers get an allowance for the child, and sometimes extra depending on what LA you're with.

Foster carers professionally trained earn a little extra but it's definitely not a well paid thing to do - it's something you need to want to be able to do for many many reasons but money is not one of them.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/03/2021 17:48

Foster caring is more a vocation than a job. You have to really adore children, have the patience of a saint and an ability to work with professionals and challenging families, all for very little money. I am not sure just from what I have read here you would be a good candidate.

@braveheart2020

Your wrong

"You're"

CovidKingfisher · 12/03/2021 17:50

@braveheart2020

I'm already a carer for 4 people does that disqualify me from being a foster carer?
Sorry Op, what is your employment status? In your OP you said you care for one autistic person (cash in hand). Is this on top of a job caring for 4 people?
LaceyBetty · 12/03/2021 17:52

I got accepted into companies and a professional tuck driving training course, which people where on who done drugs and murder got accepted.

I don't think the fact that people with drug and murder convictions also got accepted to this particular course will help your case.

beela · 12/03/2021 17:52

Omfg.

I really hope this is a wind up.

notapizzaeater · 12/03/2021 17:53

If you're working 25 hours a week, you absolutely need to be declaring it. Are you claiming other benefits?

Why do you think you want to do foster caring ?

Eviethyme · 12/03/2021 17:54

I wouldn't Foster if I was you, you don't sound that bright. Of course your illegally earning money hahaha

It's literally benefit and tax fraud. Bet you don't tell your benefits about your income ;)

braveheart2020 · 12/03/2021 17:54

I never said it was.

minniemoocher · 12/03/2021 17:56

If you earn money that exceeds £1000 per tax year you have to declare it as self employment income. However anyone employing you for 25 hours a week is actually breaking the law themselves by not registering you for paye it's been a legal requirement since 2012 when they changed who could be self employed. The only exception is if you invoiced for your time and had multiple jobs.

CovidKingfisher · 12/03/2021 17:57

I think it is. Classic signs - no answering of questions and short posts.
babbaloushka · 12/03/2021 17:57

What were OP's other threads? Can only see one.

NiceTwin · 12/03/2021 17:58

I pay my employee cash in hand.
The payroll is run by an accountant, the HMRC are aware of her, she doesn't pay tax or NI. It is absolutely above board.

Your cash in hand is absolutely not above board. I suggest a chat with an accountant.

LaceyBetty · 12/03/2021 17:58

I think the OP has been considering the fostering "gig" for some time based on posting history.

CovidKingfisher · 12/03/2021 17:58

There's a few, funnily enough all about money/fostering 🤨

RizzleRazzle · 12/03/2021 17:59

If you're working 25 hours a week "cash in hand" and your income is £400pm that means you're working for £4 an hour?

babbaloushka · 12/03/2021 18:01

@CovidKingfisher

There's a few, funnily enough all about money/fostering 🤨
Ahh, I've just found them. All seem very legitimate and altruism based.
OverTheRainbow88 · 12/03/2021 18:05

OP, you need to be paying tax, with everything you’ve outlined I don’t think fostering is for you.

You aren’t even able to explain why you would like to become a foster carer.

braveheart2020 · 12/03/2021 18:05

Ok will let yous know how fostering got on.

OP posts:
BopToTheTop · 12/03/2021 18:05

I don’t think you are the right fit to be a foster carer, you don’t seem to have the right morals

CovidKingfisher · 12/03/2021 18:06

Make sure you leave it a while, just to make things believable. Don't be making silly errors and posting tomorrow Grin

absolutequeen · 12/03/2021 18:09

Do I think you could foster? No
Do I think you should foster? Also No
