I'm not trying to find out if you get your five a day. I'm just bored and nosy.

It did thankyou.

I'm always looking for something new to try and I've never tried Romanesco so I'll have to add that to my shopping list.

mistressploppy · 16/04/2010 15:36

I'm bored too. I buy:

apples
satsumas

and

broccoli
onions
cabbage
green beans
lettuce
tomatoes
courgettes

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 15:37

OP posts:
muggglewump · 16/04/2010 15:37

From today's Asda delivery and fairly standard.

Oranges
Apples
Bananas
Grapes
Strawberries
Pineapple
Melon

Potatoes
Sweet potato
Beetroot (raw)
Parsnips
Broccoli
Onions
Spring onions
Carrots
Stew pack (swede/leek/carrot)
Baby Spinach
Avocado

Also have green beans, peas and sweetcorn in freezer, and olives in jars if they count, oh and pickled gherkins, onions and a jar of mixed pickle too.

Rockbird · 16/04/2010 15:37

Apples
Clementines or other small round orange things
Bananas

and a choice of kiwi/grapes/plums/strawbs/rasps/peaches. Usually one or two of those in addition to the above.

Fresh
Spuds
Toms
Carrots
Onions
Sometimes leeks

Frozen
Sweetcorn
Peas
Broccoli
Cauli
Green beans

DH likes his 5 a day, DD is only 2 and I am picky with veg. Anytime I've bought loads of fresh it goes off before we use it, hence the frozen.

You must be bored!

TigerFeet · 16/04/2010 15:38

tbh it tastes a lot like cauli only it's more expensive and looks a bit poncier

i only eat it because it's (sort of) free

just thought of more:

frozen peas
frozen sweetcorn

those little baby vegetables you get in mixed packs

TigerFeet · 16/04/2010 15:39

melon
mango
blueberries

although couldn't find the last two when i went shopping last

mistressploppy · 16/04/2010 15:41

I always think romanesco looks like those fractal posters

mustrunmore · 16/04/2010 15:41

OK, starting with the most consumed and working down.. ish...

cabbage
celery
tomatoes
grapes
pineapple
pak choi
leeks
plantain
spinach

Must be others, but I cant think!

mistressploppy · 16/04/2010 15:42

Because I was reading a thread on here once and someone was slagging off mediocre restaurants where everything came with baby sweetcorn. I didn't realise it was naff, thank goodness I have MN to advise me

If you like it that's all that matters. I hate this idea of 'fashionable food'. It's utter nonsense.

Now personally I don't like baby corn but there's nothing wrong with enjoying it.

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 16/04/2010 15:45

courgettes
sweet potatoes
butternut squash

TigerFeet · 16/04/2010 15:46

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 15:55

Everyone's lists are so long and I thought I liked my vegetables.

I eat relatively little fruit, other than the occasional banana, apple or fruit salad I don't really enjoy it. I'd sooner boil some broccoli or roast some peppers and onions and eat those than an orange.

I'll add my list.

Fruit
Bananas
Apples

That's about it. I do have some grapes at the moment, which I buy occasionally. I like tinned mandarins and peaches. I love lychees and passion fruit. Strawberries are nice and blackberries but again I only buy those about once a month.

Vegetables
Potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Broccoli
Sweet corn
Frozen peas
Steam bags of mixed vegetables
Peppers
Onions.
Red onions I eat onions every day in some form.
Carrots
Leeks
Mushrooms
Courgettes
Cauliflower
Lettuce usually Cos or mixed leaves
Cucumber
Parsnips
Garlic if that counts

I also love asparagus and buy that whenever possible.
