yy - organic meatballs. big hit here.

coffee ice cream.

at xmas their all butter mini mince pies have always come out on top during some extensive MN research.

bowbluebell · 29/03/2010 20:23

Oh, just loads and loads of their delcious cheese- this week we are on petit basque and Sussex slipcote.

And their big, puffy croissants.

The Easy to Cook lamb in redcurrent sauce is fantastic. In fact that whole range is good.

Frozen Fruits de Mer as they are the only raw ones I have come across (most supermarkets only do cooked.

Their own brand ice cream is very nice.

Here, here on the Essentials range.

In fact it's all pretty lovely. And I also love the wide aisles and cathedral like ambience. Tesco and Sainsburys are just not the same now I've experienced a rural Waitrose (unlike the one I used to frequent at Canary Wharf, which was nuts!).

White chocolate ice cream
frozen coley fillets - a cut above the crappy coley portions you get in other supermarkets
Popz popcorn - much better than Butterkist
Nature Baby pull ups
Dry Aged Ribeye Steak from the fresh meat counter (warning: VERY EXPENSIVE but soooooooooooooo yummy )

Pennies · 29/03/2010 20:28

oh and their New Zealand lamb shanks - always excellent quality

and their fillet steaks.

Crapweasel · 29/03/2010 20:30

I know this is a food thread but the best way to enjoy Waitrose IMO is to ask the staff for something and enjoy the experience as they actually know the answer and helpfully lead to you all the way to the correct product.

A world away from other supermarkets

JamieJay · 29/03/2010 20:35

Cupcakes - seriously yummy

taffetacat · 29/03/2010 20:36

Proper thin breadsticks made with e.v.o.o.

Agree about the chicken thigh fillets

fritata · 29/03/2010 20:52

chicaguapa · 29/03/2010 20:54

birdsandblossoms · 29/03/2010 21:24

we only have the one in Scotland in Edinburgh. It is a day out for us to go there posh charity shops and Waitrose yay!i like their flowers

LorraineSattell · 29/03/2010 21:25

if you can be arsed going into the shop, the deli counter is fab, generally has a couple of things discounted to a pound per hundred grams, which is super cheap, and the quality is fabulous.

willtryharder · 29/03/2010 21:25

Lemon possets

MinnieMalone · 29/03/2010 21:27

Their cupcakes are vile. How can people seriously recommend? they look great and taste like sandpaper! There was a whole thread on this a while back.

I love their maple cured bacon and rotisserie chickens, personally.

zanz1bar · 29/03/2010 21:36

Espresso coffee beans in a very stylish black and red tin.

Best coffee beans for the money around, and a lot cheaper than the fancy supermarket brands.
£2.49 for 250g and I am using the tins for bean plants now.

janeite · 29/03/2010 21:40

Rick Stein seasalt oatcakes from the savoury crackers section - they are gorgeous but I only buy them when on special offer.

Dp is addicted to the mackerel pate - shudder.

Duchy Originals treacle tart.

Cadelaide · 29/03/2010 22:34

Oh, this is brilliant.

Thanks all

No one mentioned Baby Bottom Butter . Wasn't it a mention on Mumsnet that started the whole stampede off?

MrsBadger · 29/03/2010 22:42

chocolate malted milks - they're the only place that do them and they are splendid

chicken thigh fillet as mentioned below

bottom butter if you have babies in nappies

British wafer thin etc ham for snadwiches - is th ebest-priced British one as tesco etc standard isn;t British, only the pricey Finest stuff.

SlinkyGoober · 29/03/2010 22:43

Fruit shoots.

Molesworth · 29/03/2010 22:43

ohhhhhhhh the Duchy Originals treacle tart is bloody good, it's true.

I hadn't noticed the frozen pains au chocolat before

Molesworth · 29/03/2010 22:45

their 'essentials' coleslaw has been declared the best by DP

Union filter coffee

Poilane bread (although this doesn't seemt o be available online)

Fimbow · 29/03/2010 22:48

coconut and lime ice-cream
own brand Scillian lemonade
all their bread/bread roll products
birthday cakes
frozen chicken/fish pieces in breadcrumbs
own cottage pie
own crisps

just wait until Christmas you will have a ball

and I love when they call over the tannoy for someone as they use mrs/mr/ms instead of "oi you to the checkouts"
