samsonara · 16/02/2010 09:58

sliced bananas and nutella and bit of squirty cream which always makes the dc squeal with delight

aseriouslyblondemoment · 16/02/2010 11:35

AppleTreeWick · 16/02/2010 12:00

ooooh nice...maybe some nuts to sprinkle on the nutella banana and ice cream???

MrsChemist · 16/02/2010 12:01

They didn't have maple syrup in Morrisons so I got:
Golden Syrup
Cheese
Bacon
Lemon
Sugar
Nutella
Cherry Jam
Raspberry Jam

My friends are coming round so I thought I would have a few things so they can chose.

Mmmmmmm nutella and cherry jam pancakes for me

GypsyMoth · 16/02/2010 12:02

grated choc on top of nutella and cherry jam...yum

MrsChemist · 16/02/2010 12:05

I once had a nutella, cherry jam, whipped cream and frosted sugar pancake.

I felt very ill afterwards, but it was worth it.

SomeGuy · 16/02/2010 12:06

We had ours already

whipped cream & nutella
maple syrup
strawberries & whipped cream
lemon & sugar

sugar, lemon and lashings of butter; including a big lump of butter right in the middle as you roll it up - yum! (Although I realise that to roll, or no to roll, is wildly controversial...)

SofaQueen · 16/02/2010 12:09

We love pancakes!

We had American style blueberry & buttermilk pancakes for breakfast.

Having French crepe complets for lunch (with ham, cheese & egg).

Having Dutch pancakes with apple and bacon for dinner.

EdgarAllenSnow · 16/02/2010 12:12

thanks for reminding me. we normally go to town and have

maple syrup
cream
and ice cream, usually Ben & Jerries yumy phoish food or cherry garcia (technically frozen yoghurt, but so unhealthy why didn't they just mak it an ice cream??).

as that lot would cost £10 without even sight of a pancake, i think we'l stick with

cream
lemon.

boring boring boring.

blowbroth · 16/02/2010 12:14

We had ours for breakfast and the dd and her cousin had nutella too. I zapped it in the microwave for 30 seconds (the whole jar/lid off) and it was lovely and runny! They loved it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/02/2010 12:14

dd is making a chocolate sauce that has crunchies and marshmallows in it, with icecream. We are also going to have our alcoholic summer fruits.
yum!
not sure I'll make dinner actually we will just have pudding!

MissingMyWheels · 16/02/2010 12:20

I always make the recipes we used to have at home for pancake day. One savoury, one sweet.

Savoury is tuna and sweetcorn pancakes. Make the pancakes up, roll them like canneloni, then fill them with tuna and sweetcorn mix. Stick them in a dish, cover with white sauce and grated cheese, then put them in the oven for 20 mins or so. Delish!

Then sugar and lemon, or maybe shove a Magnum ice cream in there somewhere...

EspeciallyForYou · 16/02/2010 12:22

I start savoury (cheese, maybe peanut butter), then sweet (nutella, jam) and call it a meal done I made the batter this morning and left it in the fridge, someone on the radio was on about how it needs to settle.

BarefootShirl · 16/02/2010 12:32

DD will do the flipping - she is worryingly better at this than me. Then add maple syrup and ice cream - naturally I will have to have some as well so once again the diet goes out the window . Good job I've still got a few months before bikini-weather!

notasize10yetbutoneday · 16/02/2010 12:32

I can't wait to get home and have pancakes for dinner!

We will have savoury ones to start- a sort of ham, mushoom cheesey sauce

Then I'll have nutella and ice cream on my dessert ones whilst DH has sour grit - lemon and sugar.

OliviaMumsnet · 16/02/2010 12:34

Did I dream this or am I right in thinking that letting the batter stand for a while helps with flipping etc?

BlackYellowRed · 16/02/2010 12:50

Drop some apple slices in when you've just poured the batter in the pan.

I once had a Mikado in a Belgian café. Ice cream + chocolate sauce + cream.

BirdyBedtime · 16/02/2010 12:54

We'll be going for banana and chocolate buttons rolled up and zapped in the microwave for 10 seconds - DDs absolute fave and rather yummy. Never really thought of doing savoury ones at home - liked the tuna and sweetcorn with white sauce idea - might try that sometime!

Pikelit · 16/02/2010 13:05

None of this chocolate nonsense - lemon, caster sugar and just a little dob of butter. Real butter, mind, not Snot Butter.
