make the pancake small (about 6") and very thin
Add cooked mince with raw chopped red/green peppers
Roll the pancake into a sausage& tuck in the loose ends like a parcel as you do it
dampen a frying pan with a kiss of oil & heat til it's about to explode
Put the pancakes in & roll them about till they go hard but not burned
serve with qatiq (clean plain yogurt)

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

my lot love them

bluebump · 16/02/2010 13:06

Marmite and grated cheese it's much nicer than it sounds!

fothergill · 16/02/2010 13:18

Just made mine wrapped up with spinach and grated cheddar then baked for 10mins to melt it inside. Dd1 announced 'I'm afraid I don't want the basil (spinach) mummy' but then went on to choff seconds.
Later on we will add a little sugar to the batter and have thinner versions for tea with orange juice.
Mmmm....Nutella......

ladymarian · 16/02/2010 13:22

I'll be having the Scottish version of pancakes (dropped scones) - eaten while still warm with syrup on them with a nice cup of tea. Yum

Lunatic · 16/02/2010 13:22

Doodleydoo · 16/02/2010 13:31

SparkyfartDust · 16/02/2010 13:33

cheerfulvicky · 16/02/2010 13:34

This thread is making me hungry - and I've just eaten lunch!

We will be having
Lemon & sugar
Chopped strawberries
Raspberry Jam
Anything else I can find in the cupboard... think we have cocoa powder and icing sugar in there somewhere...

Tonight will be DS's first pancake, because he was only just being weaned last year and I think I forgot all about pancake day anyway
Pans up!

MyCatIsABastard · 16/02/2010 13:39

You're all talking nonsense, the only thing you should have is Golden Syrup

minipie · 16/02/2010 13:45

Lemon & sugar is best

Or fry some apple or pear in butter and use as a filling with some creme fraiche or ice cream... yum

stealthsquiggle · 16/02/2010 13:54

chicken & ham in pancakes with cheese on top

Followed by ice cream, maltesers, fresh chocolate sauce and (optional) whipped cream in/on/over more pancakes

Drop scones for breakfast tomorrow (because we forgot/didn't have time this morning)

Lastyearsmodel · 16/02/2010 14:15

Nutella! To think my poor chidren nearly had pancakes without it! Thanks to everyone who has mentioned it. We're off to the shops...

And Mmmmmmmmarmite idea - lovely!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/02/2010 14:44

My favourite is a tin of cherry pie filling, and squirty, whipped or ice cream.

However I doubt we'll be having pancakes today as I have no ingredients and everywhere's bound to be sold out now.

sockmonkey · 16/02/2010 14:44

Orange juice and sugar for us grown ups, and nutella or syrup for the little 'uns.

Savoury pancakes are lovely with tomato soup poured over them. Mmmmm.

FanjolinaJolie · 16/02/2010 14:45

We've had ours for lunch.

Starter was pancake with ham and grated cheese
Main was pancake with lemon and sugar
Dessert was pancacke with golden syrup!!

YUM

Anything you could put in Canelloni (sp?) you can put in a pancake - so meat sauce - or you could do a curry of some sort or...(sorry, mind has gone blank and I can only think of things involving cheese or white sauce or both )

When i was about 10 i had a pancake that had been cooked with slices of sausage in it (looked a bit like a pepperoni pizza) with beans, then folded like an omlette. I ate it so must have been good

Going to have sugar and lemon on mine i think, DD probably nutella

Not having them. DS1 allergic to egg and milk so all that's left he can have is flour.

Tis one of those times when I feel it just wouldn't be fair to him. So none of us have them.

Shame. I love lemon and sugar on pancakes.

Alicetheinvisible · 16/02/2010 16:15

Balloon - i will have an extra one, just for you
