What is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

I seem to go through phases with food and I obsessively eat something until I get fed-up and move on to the next one. At the moment I am obsessed with truffle oil. Yes truffle oil. It's wonderful and ocassionally I open the bottle and just sniff it. I also find myself cooking certain meals specifically so I can add my delicious extra

Am I alone? Do other people do this too? If so what is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

Oh and I'm not pregnant

Ooh Kreecher that butter sounds ace. Do tell.

LadyMetroland · 28/09/2009 17:06

I do this regularly. Recent phases include:

smoked mackeral pate
M&S cheese spread (10000x nicer than Dairylea)
Pizza
Hotdogs
Apricots

current fave thing is really hot granary toast, lashings of butter, nutella choc spread and sliced banana on top

(am pg)

AliGrylls · 28/09/2009 17:20

Prawns and sushi - I could live on both.

I have a really bad crisp habit too. Funny thing is that I am not very bothered about chocolate.

AliGrylls · 28/09/2009 17:21

I have to stop reading this thread. It is making me hungry.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 28/09/2009 18:38

Am also pg and wavering between foodlust & nausea at this thread.

Sunfleurs · 28/09/2009 18:47

Spinach Bhaji from the Indian. Could eat this every night of the week. Was actually looking for a recipe on the net before I came across this thread so I can start making it at home.

Also sushi as someone mentioned before, very expensive when you want it for lunch every day.

lisaspencer · 28/09/2009 18:53

I've been eating scrambled eggs with a side of sauteed onions and a few anchovies on the top. It is absolutely delicious! I was having that often for breakfast just before I found out I was pregnant.

branaire · 28/09/2009 19:52

toast with marmite and lashings of butter

greek yoghurt with honey or lemon curd

Can't wait for DH to get home for dinner; have to go and raid the cupboard NOW

swiftyknickers · 28/09/2009 20:09

I too go through phases but at the moment its 2 poached eggs on granary with lurpak and loads of salt and pepper...every morning

I am truely addicted to poached eggs-I actually think about them! So strange as when prego with DS who is now 4 I was sick if anyone even said the word egg!!!

primigravida · 28/09/2009 20:51

I'm always going through phases and ds is the same. At the moment am obsessed with new season asparagus (live in NZ) with lashings of butter and Greek Lentil Soup (poor DH he doesn't like either and is looking forward to my next obsession. DS is currently obsessed with banana and blueberry smoothies and before that corn fritters. Green and Blacks chocolate is an ongoing love affair but much more expensive now that I'm not living in England. When I was pregnant I would put away a block an evening.

applepudding · 28/09/2009 21:06

mashed potato

wickedwitchofwestfield · 28/09/2009 22:11

peas, I am addicted to them and get quite upset if I can't have them with my dinner

the boys I look after find it quite funny for some reason

slapheadsrock · 28/09/2009 23:15

jerusalem artichokes - unfortunately a very short season. 'M' burgers

primigravida · 29/09/2009 03:09

slapheadsrock - jerusalem artichokes are delicious - I adore them. How do you cook yours?

gottodecidesoon · 29/09/2009 03:21

Strawberries bashed up with cream and meringue - is that what's called Eton mess? I'm very out of touch (live in the US).

thumbwitch · 29/09/2009 05:37

mostly chocolate.
And failing that, chocolate spread on warm buttery toast.
Then chocolate mousse or icecream

Then cheese.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 29/09/2009 08:23

The butter with little rocks of salt is available at all good supermarkets in France. I drive an hour and a half to buy that and domestos.
Another obsession of mine is cream crackers with butter and marmite or nacho crisps with a jar of pesto smoothed over it and grated cheese put under the grill.

dawntigga · 29/09/2009 08:46

Sausages have been my favourite food since I was 6 years old.

Right now I have just eaten a croissant from my very favourite boulangerie-pâtisserie. At 9.30 am nothing could be more delicious than a croissant and a coffee...

fishie · 29/09/2009 09:00

that butter is in waitrose too. it is delicious, almost like cheese.

Feierabend · 29/09/2009 09:00

Freshly baked bread with salted butter. A seafood starter, maybe griddled squid or mussels in cream and white wine sauce. Creamy, garlicky dauphinoise potatoes, medium rare lamb and green beans. Followed by a nice creme brulee with raspberries on the side. Washed down with a glass or two of champagne, a Gigondas and then a nice velvety espresso to finish. (TheHeadbangingWombat, are you me?) Now I need to find someone to cook this for me!

CuntWhacker · 29/09/2009 09:02

mozzarella with parma ham

kreecher, that butter sounds delicious

NaptimeRocks · 29/09/2009 09:24

At the moment, I am addicted to Peppadew peppers and I put them in everything!

fatzak · 29/09/2009 09:31

Tesco do a Normandy salted butter too.I could live on crusty bread and butter!

I wish I had an urge for things like peas or asparagus
