What is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

I seem to go through phases with food and I obsessively eat something until I get fed-up and move on to the next one. At the moment I am obsessed with truffle oil. Yes truffle oil. It's wonderful and ocassionally I open the bottle and just sniff it. I also find myself cooking certain meals specifically so I can add my delicious extra

Am I alone? Do other people do this too? If so what is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

Oh and I'm not pregnant

The current favourite is :- Slices of fresh tomato, topped with red onion rings and crumbled feta. Topped with basil leaves and a vinegar and oil dressing.

For Christmas supper, I love having a turkey, stuffing and brussel sprout sandwich as well. mmmmmmm

Cheese, pref v strong cheddar, but anythng strong tasting really (hate mild cheddar, after that it's a free for all).
Smoked salmon

Heins cream of chicken and mushroom soup served with mature cheddar cheese on white crusty toast.

Cheesecake/tiramisu

During the early stages of breastfeeding (can you legitimately pass off greed as a sort of 'breastfeeding craving' as opposed to pregnancy craving?) - I was obsessed with bread & butter pudding with cream.

Not homemade - on no - I could hardly keep my eyes open let alone make pudding...but waitrose own - massive portion - gobbled up entirely by ME I used to have it warm with cream and leave the other half to spoon out of the fridge throughout the next day. i reckon I had that every day for about 3 weeks. I put on nearly a stone

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 25/09/2009 22:16

So many things.

Steak and chips currently. With English mustard.

Smoked salmon on toast.

Belgian buns.

Roasted butternut squash with chicken thighs roasted with garlic and lemon quarters

Garlicky Tarka Dhal smothered in roasted spices with basmati rice

I could go on, but I won't because it's making me hungry.

I just went through a Frito pie phase I even ate it for breakfast once [horrible glowing scarlet blush]

Frito pie I never eat it with sour cream though [shudder]

Now I'm onto torn up baguettes dipped into olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

janeite · 26/09/2009 15:53

Soda bread with Cornish Crunch cheddar and a rock hard conference pear.

Tiger bread with salted Lurpak and Duchy Originals lemon curd.

Greek salad and pitta but no tomatoes.

Treacle sponge and custard (had Duchy treacle tart last night and that was bloomin' lovely too).

mwff · 26/09/2009 22:42

oh wow frito pie

yep i'd eat that for breakfast (with sour cream)

Eyeballls · 26/09/2009 22:46

You're all so bloody cultured. I can't really say plain pasta with melted cheddar cheese now, can I?

Hi Eyeballs How's WW?

SecretNinjaChipmunk · 26/09/2009 23:20

mwff i'm with you on hotdogs but i have them chopped up with pasta, sweetcorn, oyster mushrooms and a stock cube/ soured cream sauce. its my guilty pleasure. i also love the things that make roast dinner special - yorkshire puddings, bread sauce, stuffing, gravy (got to be really thick), roast pots. not so fussed about the meat and veg, could just happily eat the rest as a full meal though.

meltedmarsbars · 27/09/2009 10:07

Mwff - rofl!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/09/2009 13:31

pasta. Ideally with a home made tomato sauce of some variety and smothered in cheese - and it does not have to be complicated. Just simple onions, red peppers, tin of tomatoes and herbs, cooked for 20 mins would suffice most of the time. But generally anything pasta related. I have to force myself to east something other than this when we go to restuarants!
