What is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

I seem to go through phases with food and I obsessively eat something until I get fed-up and move on to the next one. At the moment I am obsessed with truffle oil. Yes truffle oil. It's wonderful and ocassionally I open the bottle and just sniff it. I also find myself cooking certain meals specifically so I can add my delicious extra

Am I alone? Do other people do this too? If so what is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

Oh and I'm not pregnant

HecatesTwopenceworth · 27/09/2009 13:33

I have fads too. Atm it's sushi. mmmm. Costing me a bloody fortune!

before that it was snack-a-jacks with philly on and before that, sardines.

Lizzylou · 27/09/2009 13:41

Oh, am also putting sweet chilli sauce on anything and everything atm.
Love it on cheese on toast (cheese melted on top of sweet chilli sauce).

ohnelly · 28/09/2009 09:59

Beetroot - straight out of the jar (usually when wearing a white top)

midnightexpress · 28/09/2009 10:01

I don't klnow if it's my favourite thing ever but I had a damn fine bowl of deep fried chilli beef last night.

The diet starts today.

Sushi -- proper freshly made, not supermarket boxes. Would cheerfully spend half my income on it if I could.

Perfect, ripe, juicy and non-mealy peaches ... the kind you hardly ever get in the UK these days

Warm melty plain-chocolate chip cookies

fishie · 28/09/2009 13:20

lulu i am near japan centre and i know that dressing, lovely with cold cooked spinach. they're opening a big new food hall round the corner at the end of october.

troutpout · 28/09/2009 13:28

No...i don't do this at all...you mean like eating the same thing a lot and then going off of it ..right?
No. I have to have lots of different things else i get bored.

Sunshinemambo · 28/09/2009 13:34

Yes I definitely go through phases but my abiding love is oysters. I could eat them until I turn into one.

aquavit · 28/09/2009 13:40

Going through a takeaway-curry phase atm (thank god am breastfeeding so still losing weight!)

Pate. Esp pate de foie gras. This is a permanent obsession, so pregnancy was CRUEL.

Homemade scones with butter, really good strawberry jam and proper clotted cream, with real tea in a flowery china pot, preferably served at a tea garden after a day at the beach. Sigh. I sometimes dream about opening a tea shoppe.

lisianthus · 28/09/2009 14:00

oh and miso soup! and kimchi. I ate stacks of the stuff when pregnant, was great when feeling queasy.

flybynight · 28/09/2009 14:26

Orkney pickled herrings with loads of onions. And curry. I'm pregnant and I need strong flavours.

MaryAmericanSmooth · 28/09/2009 14:28

lisianthus · 28/09/2009 14:36

flybynight- I was just like that. Definitely try some kimchee!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/09/2009 14:59

I go through phases of cooking amd eating the same thing. A constant is bread and butter. I can't stand marge/spreads, it has to be salty butter. I've discovered a fabulous one with small lumps of sea salt in. I doubt it is healthy, but it is gorge.
