I'm not going to beat around the bush here as I can't stand those threads that keep you guessing, it's really quite gross.

It was a Tesco Tomato and Mozzarella Pasta bake, it was really quite good for a micro meal and got half way through it when I found...........................................................................................
A Toe nail! It looked as though someone had torn off the top of their nail - not an entire nail but still

I'm not sure what to do about it really. I've kept the packaging, the other half of the pasta and the nail. Do I take it straight back to Tesco? or phone customer complaints dept?

I'm almost 8 months pregnant too so I'll be using that to my advantage!

I would ring them first and see what they want you to do.

ABloke · 09/02/2009 09:50

take it back.

I had chocolates for after dinner, they had slugs in them.

Twas Tesco.

HeadFairy · 09/02/2009 09:56

ewwwwwwwww! Take it back to the shop, raise merry hell, maybe they'll let you have a trolley dash to compensate!

Gorionine · 09/02/2009 10:02

Yuck! toe nail in pasta and slugs in chocs!!!

I wonder how they got there. I once bought a salad alredy washed in a packet because i was in a hurry and there was a caterpillar in it(coop), that I can sort of understand but in chocolates! That would put me off the stuff for life and I would NEVER forgiv them!

lol at slug

Gorionine · 09/02/2009 10:21

LOL @ slug (how did you fit in there and more importantly, how does choc taste eaten from the inside out?)

ForeverOptimistic · 09/02/2009 10:23

I think I am going to be sick.

purpleduck · 09/02/2009 10:28

please tell us more about the slugs ' n ' chocs.

Was it illustrated alongside the Orange Creams and Hazelnut Whirl?
Or did you open the box and there was a mass of slugs waiting to pounce? Inasmuch as a slug can pounce?

Gorionine · 09/02/2009 10:29

ROFL!

nannyL · 09/02/2009 10:29

i had stones... not tiny bits of gravel but actual stones that might be on a beach in my tesco hot cross buns

3 of them

i made a HUGE fuss at customer services where they offered me another pack told them i dodnt want any more and made more of a huge fuss... i got a £5 tesco voucher for TIME AND TRAVEL and about £40 of vouchers to say sorry...

i was happy!

my aunt found a dead woodlouse in a cooked fish finger she was cutting up to serve to her then 1 year old

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 09/02/2009 10:38

Eeeww.

Surely they have to do a bit more than just give you vouchers. Would they not have to recall that batch of the item or something to make sure there's nothing else in them?

candyheartsandchocolates · 09/02/2009 11:00

i had a chocolate covered stone in my choc peanuts
i wrote to complain and sent the stone to them
i cant remember now what they done about it
the make was jamesons form waitrose

thisisyesterday · 09/02/2009 11:05

tesco you say? well there's a surprise.

my list is getting quite long now!

Yurtgirl · 09/02/2009 11:08

eww at the toe nail

ewwwwwwwwww at the slugs - we they alive?

The mind boggles - unfortunately round here its Tescos or go hungry

GentleOtter · 09/02/2009 11:10

I found half a knife handle in a steak pie and returned the whole lot to the local store. They were arsey with me and I got the impression that they suspected I had put it there myself.
I was offered another steak pie but refused it.
We have never bought another meat product from them since.

ProfYaffle · 09/02/2009 11:14

I had similar to GentleOtter, I found sweetie wrappers in a packet of Walkers crisps, sent the packet back to head office and got an arsey letter back hinting I'd put them in there myself!

One of my Mum's friends found a screw in some peas on her plate, took them back to Asda, created huge fuss, got vouchers. Then back at home she picked up her pepper grinder and it fell apart, it seems a screw had fallen out .....

KingRolo · 09/02/2009 11:16

Eww! This thread is making me feel slightly sicky.

I found a two inch long piece of wood in a tin of Morrisons peas a while back. I was going to return the tin and piece of wood but dh threw it in the bin before I had chance. Probably would have just been given more peas anyway!

KingRolo · 09/02/2009 11:17

lol at profyaffles peas!

alicecrail · 09/02/2009 11:19

I refuse to go to tesco's now for quite a silly reason:

Dh, dd and i were doing our weekly shop, we got a pack of peroni beer (6 bottles) when we get to the checkout, girl serving had to let someone know she was serving alcohol. All fine with person she had asked, so carried on. Woman at til behind her snarled said check id. My dh laughed, and got out his driving licence, (he is 32) girl serving then said ok, carried on. Woman behind again "not him, check THE GIRL!!!! I am 24 and don't mind being asked for id but she was so rude, i just said "excuse me?" and she says "you are not 18!!" me:"no, i am 24"
I complained to customer services where they said they would have a word to her and contact me to let me know what action had been taken, never heard anything.
I can't see why people have to be so rude! You dont get that at Waitrose

alicecrail · 09/02/2009 11:21

Oh, and also found lump of tarmac in a pasta bake from there a few years ago!

shootfromthehip · 09/02/2009 11:27

I once had a potato the looked like barney the purple dinosaur... not quite the same thing but wanted to share it anyway! LOL

purpleduck · 09/02/2009 12:09

I had ants in my Cup O Soup from Asda a few years back....don't know how many I ate as I was mindlessly eating and reading. {gulp} I was a veggie at the time too - I think they gave me a fiver.

I found a caterpillar in my sweetcorn last week. Again Asda. It is "Natural" but I think someone should have fished it out at some point...?

GentleOtter · 09/02/2009 17:58

Tarmac in your pasta alice.....was it M1caroni?
