Apricot and Sunflower Seed Flapjack

Made them with DS this afternoon. Very nice. Will drizzle the ones that are left with dark chocolate and take them round to a friend who has just had a baby tomorrow.

A birthday cake, I think. Cut into the shape of a terddy bear and iced accordingly. (dd2 is rather young for her age ).

Or it might have been a cherry and almond cake. They are always gorgeous.

I don;t make a lot but I do enjoy it.

PandaG · 01/02/2009 21:28

bog standard choc sponge, but shaped and decorated as a chemical flask for DS's birthday.

covered in sugarpaste, green liquid painted in flask, graduations marked up the side to DS's age and bubbles of the liquid painted in the flask with the letters spelling out his name written on. Cake pretty tasty and DS was pleased with it.

The party was yesterday and we had a kitchen science party making lava lamps, slime, fizzy eyeballs etc!

I made banana bread yesterday for the first time.In fact apart from shortbread and flapjack, it is the first cake type thing I can remember making ever. Turned out perfectly . DD helped me, so was fun too.

Nigella's clementine cake for my mum as it was dairy and gluten free, but I had nothing to grease the pan so I had to use olive oil, and it was a bit soggy, but they all ate it.
I did make a cake for my mate (on my profile) but that was a tesco madeira cake!

A made a chocolate sponge just ovver a week ago, it was ok, not really chocolatey enough for me.

Ledodgy · 01/02/2009 21:34

I made a chocolate malty cake for ds1's Birthday. It turned out really lovely and I kind of made it up. It was a basic chocolate cake recipe but I filled it with chocolate butter cream to which I added Horlicks powder. I iced it with the same mixture and put crushed maltesers on the top.

Wheelybug · 01/02/2009 21:37

A barbie cake for dd's birthday - with the cake being the skirt. Surprisingly easy with a mould but I was worried about not cooking the cake long enough and overcooked it.

Carmenere · 01/02/2009 21:38

Chocolate fudge cake for dss's birthday last week.
This one, it is pretty good

thumbwitch · 01/02/2009 21:51

VinoEsmeralda · 01/02/2009 22:28

BlackEyedDogstar · 01/02/2009 22:29

I made a box of fairy cakes for the school fair. They were bloody awful - but they all sold!

GivePeasAChance · 01/02/2009 22:29

Victoria Sponge. 1986.

StirlingTheStrong · 01/02/2009 22:33

Wow - you are a busy lot.

Most of you are more adventurous than me.

meringue squiggles (made with dd1, squiggles made with a piping bag and she made our initials too. Decorated with sprinkles.)

janeite · 01/02/2009 22:39

I haven't made one since the new year as I'm trying to eat less! The last one I made was a chocolate Guinness cake, just before Christmas and some mince pies over Christmas. Might make one this week, now you've got me thinking about it.

lucysmam · 01/02/2009 22:48

what's a chocolate guinness cake janiete?

MyEye · 01/02/2009 22:49

cupcakes for ds's 4th birthday party. Lemon icing, with gummy bears, Haribo hearts and Smarties stuck in.

StirlingTheStrong · 01/02/2009 23:09

Lucysmam I think it is a Nigella recipe but hopefully Janeite will come back and tell us...
