I am just waiting for a carrot cake to finish baking and can't wait....

What did you last bake and was it good?

Not a cake, but I made Welsh cakes on Sunday - DD (21 months) loves helping too. The last proper cake I make was a slab of ridiculously chocolatey brownies for lunch with friends. It's basically muscovado sugar and chocolate held together with egg - stunning.

a marmalade cake, was rather disappointing actually. i overcooked it but don't think it would have been all that anyway.

haven't baked for ages in an attempt to stem the encroaching lard. but it's cold out today so i might make something tasty

flippineck - So Lo-Cal brownies was it??

Which recipe did you use cyteen?

I have used one from Good Food before and it was lovely - I believe Nigel Slater has a recipe for that too.

I made fairy cakes at the weekend with buttercream and sprinkles - they didn't last long.

Normally make a large victoria sponge at the weekend.

An almond cake. Delicious!

cyteen · 02/02/2009 11:34

Stirling it was in my "1000 Cake & Bake Recipes" book which can be a bit hit and miss. I might seek out the Slater one, we've got marmalade coming out of our ears here!

Made a blackberry crumble cake yesterday from this month's Good Housekeeping (supposed to be rhubarb crumble cake, but I had blackberries already). Blimming delicious and I will def be making again.

Laurie - some flour, some sugar!!

I cannot make a cake without proper instructions and measures!!!!!

WEESLEEKITLauriefairycake · 02/02/2009 11:53

bbbut they're muffins - you just put stuff in til it looks thickish. And don't stir it much, just roughly mix.

We are eating them now, all warm from the oven.

It's about half flour in a measuring jug now I think about it.

So sorry I can't help more.

Banana bread for a friend's DS's first birthday. Found the recipe on here, can't remember whose it was but it's lovely, did it for DD's first birthday too.

Mr Man packet fairy cakes with DD about 10 minutes ago. Will be decorating them as soon as they're cooled.

Am going to make gingerbread bics later on, if she's still bored (darn child won't go play in the snow!!!).

lucysmam · 02/02/2009 14:08
