Let she who is without blame cast the first stone (or something) so here goes.

Bottled mint sauce is essential. Who on God's earth would make it themselves??????

Now see on the opposite scale. Gravy I can do. Couln't give you a recipe or advise I just bung stuff in that seems to go with what I'm cooking. Boil/simmer/boil whatever seems to work!!! (I'm a very haphazard freestyle cook!!)

Gravy is OK if you have a roast but that is not very often. I have occasionally made Delia's "instant" gravy which is really an onion gravy. This is fine if I have time on my hands but after a work day it is not really very instant.

Having said that I got home at 6.30 yesterday with the children and had a meal for the four of us on the table at 6.45 although it was partly cheating. Filled tortellini with a tomato sauce made from chopped red onions, garlic paste, tinned tomatoes, one red chilli, some dried basil, a touch of balsamic vinegar, a spoonful of red pesto. With enough left for my lunch today.
