With lasagne I would serve…

Family over later. I’ve made a lasagne which I’m sure is big enough but I’m a feeder & like to know everyone has been well fed so now I’m not so sure there’s enough of it!
Any suggestions as to what else I can put on the table so everyone leaves feeling full? I’ve got the usual salad and garlic bread.

Thank you

I'd leave the salad in the fridge and serve it with broccoli or sweetheart cabbage.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 06/11/2022 13:08

Salad. Tenderstem brocolli and peas maybe but I’d just serve salad.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 06/11/2022 13:12

Garlic bread, coleslaw and a green or Greek salad. Maybe buttered new potatoes if feeding a really hungry hoard.

Jacket spuds and salad

What? 😱

rumbypumby · 06/11/2022 13:14

All I want is lasagne now.

kateandme · 06/11/2022 13:36

Haha is this the longest food thread ever.I love how much we all love lasagne.
I’d say wedges
curly fries
garlic bread
french baguette and butter
Roast butternut squash with a crumbly mix of olives red onion and pine nuts and feta over the top

kateandme · 06/11/2022 13:38

Roasted peppers
half baked mushrooms

breaded mozzarella sticks

RampantIvy · 06/11/2022 13:40

I do garlic bread if we have guests, but if it is just us I just do salad. I find lasagne filling enough on its own or maybe I just serve bigger portions

MrsThimbles · 06/11/2022 13:42

I’d have roast Mediterranean vegetables with it along with the garlic bread and salad. Or perhaps google another Italian vegetable dish and go with that instead.

WanderingSouls · 06/11/2022 13:45

My kind is boggling at all the people eating potatoes with lasagne.

Salad, yes. Red wine, yes. Garlic bread if you must.

maldivemoment · 06/11/2022 13:51

5 pages! 😆👌🏻

I’m going for GB, salad, wedges and the lovely cannellini beans thing that was suggested at the start.

thanks all. Hugely enjoyable reading folks preferences!

Yea same!! Pasta is a full meal! I can’t imagine having ragu/carbonara/amatricana with peas carrots and potatoes. Do these same people have curry with rice and chips (another thing I find mind boggling). I guess the British just love their chips!!

Bbq1 · 06/11/2022 14:05

Rice
Wedges

Do people have chips with pasta ragu/bolognaise as well as lasagne? It just sounds weird, also peas and potatoes. Pasta is a dish on its own for us, I didn’t realise we were so odd!!

Chips with bolognaise? Hell yeah, with cheese grated on top and a whole French stick of garlic bread mmmmm

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 06/11/2022 14:06

Lasagne and rice???

I'm done 😂😂

TellySavalashairbrush · 06/11/2022 14:08

Nothing else. An Italian would never serve it with salad either.

bellac11 · 06/11/2022 14:10

Just as an aside, I dont understand how people eat/serve salad with hot foods. Particularly winter type stodgy foods.

Doesnt go.

In Italy you’d eat the lasagne and then eat the salad. So in the same meal but not on the same plate together.

pilates · 06/11/2022 14:41

Oh yes salad definitely on separate plate from the lasagna

Sorry, you’re never going to convince me that pasta and chips is a thing. Same as curry with rice and chips. Maybe I’m just not as into chips as all the chip lovers on here, I only tend to have them with steak, and then only when out.

I love the contrast between the soft hot lasagne and a cold, crisp salad.

hashbrownsandwich · 06/11/2022 17:33

It's 8 hours since I read that people actually serve peas and jacket potatoes with lasagne and I'm still feeling raw and traumatised.

I love salad with hot foods. It's that contrast between hot and cold and soft and crunchy!

I'll probably be accused of MN competitive under eating, but that's enough imo.

Same. Lasagne and salad is enough.

I always make enough lasagne so that there is some left for the freezer, so anyone who wants second helpings can have them. Lasagne is a rich, filling meal.
