mine love sardines in tomato on toast.

Cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese are nice and you can freeze them. Do you know how to make a cheese sauce?

sandcastles · 06/01/2008 11:56

If you make a large quantity of the sauce, you can freeze it. I freeze it in ice cube trays & push out as it is easier to choose how much I need rather than thawing out a huge batch.

It thaws really quick in the microwave, then you can add chunky vegs & more salt for you, if you prefer, after you have taken baby's serve out.

Pasta sauce for babies - chopped onion, carrot, pepper, courgette, maybe a bit of garlic, cooked in a bit of oil, then put through the blender with a tin of tomatoes. Freeze it in small portions and use when you need it.

I do see any reason why you can't freeze it.

i havent read whole thread.i read that you have about £90 a week for food.we do 2 adults,3 children and a rabbit(2 of us are veggie,1 cows milk intolerant).im rubbish cook but find cooking from fresh lots cheaper.you can make your own nuggets etc, much healthier.find yourself a good cookbook, make a list of everything you need-youll be shocked at how much cheaper it is .the foods you mentionned are far to salty for baby and i think you should be getting him into good habits now.this isnt to say we dont eat crap sometimes!!!

You can freeze the Dolmio you don't use or you could cook extra pasta, make it all up and then freeze pasta and sauce portions for days when you are busy, or need little pots of food to take out with you. DH is a big Dolmio fan so I use half a jar and then add a tin of tomatoes, extra onion and veg etc. (Actually I am now down to a quarter of a jar but he doesn't know!)
