Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

Yes we've been 10 drops away for the last four hours apparently! The driver was at the top

The driver was at the top of our road a 3pm ( out delivery a slot was 1-3 so something has gone wrong.

Gousto just said they only have to deliver by 7pm.

The driver is now in the next town over so I don't think he's coming.

And yes I looked up to see if it's ok to freeSe the stuff so that's what we will have to do.

Ah right. I have to concede it doesn't look like you will be getting your box.

Still not arrived! Customer service told us at 6:30 that they could "guarantee" it would arrive at 7.32pm precisely. Just had takeaway fish and chips instead.

Such a shame. We are cancelling next week and will look at other providers and see whose offering good deals.

It just arrived! Still cancelling next week just for the poor customer service. Don't like being lied to.

That’s very disappointing. When we had a box go missing (it was delivered to an empty house a few doors up and not located for a week!) they refunded straight away

Yes, every box for the past 4 weeks has come with an email saying that some ingredients are missing/ replaced, but then there's always another ingredient missing too that they don't tell you about!

I think Gousto has unintentionally got me into bad habits. I haven't ordered a box this week, I did a meal plan by searching new recipes online (annoying), then ordered on tesco website (what a faff), went to local store for click and collect (how dare I have to leave the house), they substituted my quorn mince for quorn sausages, and chicken breast for chicken wings (annoyed is not the word)...and now the absolute cheek of it, I have to measure the ingredients for each meal, no thank you, I want my balsamic vinegar in a sachet ready to go, I want each garlic clove individually counted.... help!

@bonfireheart I know the feeling - we’ve taken a few weeks off Gousto and I’m slightly outraged to have to measure out herbs!

What we having this week?

I've got the mushroom donburi, Tuscan fish, goats cheese tart, and veggie sausage casserole.

I've had the butternut squash biryani tonight (amazing)

We had that one too @sanfranfibber - really good and I love one pot meals

We tried a tofu one this week. Still don’t like tofu! Had that biriyani too before it’s lovely.

Aaaaaa I missed the email that said if I don't choose my recipes they'll do it for me. I thought I'd cancelled Mondays box. So now I am getting their choices - those annoying pizzas with disgusting goats cheese! Am annoyed but lesson learned to always go in and click "cancel delivery" and make sure its done.

We had the pizzas once - never again! They didn't send us any yeast, so they dough was flat and crispy!

We didn't get any yeast for pizzas either! I went out and got some and the pizzas were nice but a right faff to make so I've not ordered them again.

Yeah I've had thr pizzas before and they were such a faff that I vowed never again. If they send it with no yeast then I am cancelling my subscription all together.

I havens amazing no yeast home pizza dough recipe if anyone wants it. Much easier than a yeasted dough!

We decided to cancel our subscription today after 9 weeks of deliveries as we struggled to find anything we fancied this week and we were annoyed with late delivery and missing items last week. Also didn't enjoy today's dish at all.

They automatically offered us 20% of for the next two weeks. We declined but thought that may be interesting info for someone.

I have picked out four previous recipe cards and ordered the ingredients from Waitrose. Came to about £40 compared to the £50 for the Gousto box which I didn't think was as much of a saving as I was expecting ( although I will be able to use the store cupboard ingredients for future meals so I will save more in the long run)

Really enjoyed using the boxes and it got us through two months of lockdown boredom too so I will probably start another subscription in a few months.

I think value wise the boxes are reasonably good.

@crumbsnamechange did you delete your other accounts before ordering again with the discount? I tried to do it and it won't let me as it says I already have an account with them 🤷‍♀️

Does anyone understand why they have their instruction on many recipes to slice (not chop!) garlic? They seem quite insistent but I'm not sure what difference it makes!

I did unsubscribe from them, not sure if it's possible to entirely delete though.
