Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

I’ve got salmon with crushed potatoes, chorizo pasta, baked lemon and herb fish plus the Greek meatballs

I've got Mediterranean veg with gnocchi for today.
Rest of the week is mushroom risotto, those stupid veg pizzas and a Halloumi beans.

@bonfireheart halloumi sounds lovely! As does the risotto and actually it all does!

Are the pizzas hard to make or just don’t taste great?

The last time I made the pizza it took up every bowl and work surface in my tiny kitchen!

We had halloumi beans last night, it was good and really quick, though I had grated halloumi all over my kitchen!! I find that we use a lot of utensils for most of the meals but the pizzas were quite faffy and it wasn't easy to spread out the dough.

Have you tried one @bonfireheart? Love the idea but wondering how fresh these meals taste

I love Gousto. Think we are in week 7. I did want to miss a week but then I thought of all the effort it would take to meal plan and then shop and I ordered a box 🤣 I sort my meals out into labelled baskets then pop them in the fridge. I then leave this week's recipe cards out and pick what we fancy. Its just a case of then going to the fridge and get the basket related to that recipe card 🤣 The bags of extra and tins go into a dedicated drawer in the utility room. This is the most organised I've ever been!

@WingingItSince1973 I LOVE your fridge organisation approach and am so copying that!

@Foxhasbigsocks I've paused mine for a while. As they won't let you order one serving of each recipe, so I have to eat them over two days and then some days I end up eating something else so a box of 4 recipes usually lasts me two weeks! However I would be tempted to try one of the 'chopped' recipes, almost felt like crying after a long long day at work and then having to chop a butternut squash hahaha !

We're on our 3rd week and enjoying it overall, although the kitchen has never been so splattered up every night!

Having said that I've just made the lamb meatballs and 90% of it went in the bin as it was insipid and generally unpleasant

The Penang curry was a huge hit last night though.

@Torvi oh No - we have meatballs in our box coming tomorrow and I was hoping the meatballs would be nice! Would you increase salt or anything?

It was too carroty and watery. I did put some tomato puree in but it was missing that richness and there just wasn't enough flavour from herbs and spices.

Had the Mediterranean veg gnocchi today. Surprising filling. Loved the crunchy courgettes but first time having gnocchi and am not a fan.

Oh decided to be organised and order my box for 7 April so they don't pick the recipes for me again - so many good vegetarian dishes, so hard to choose!!

@WingingItSince1973 sounds smashing! I’ve. Colour coded all my kids outfits for the week with rainbow wardrobe tags to make the laundry easier. For each day they have a little matching cloth bag with the undies and socks in I may be on your wavelength

We had gnocci with njuda, which DD said was her favourite ever dish from them but the gnocchi were fried so they were crispy.

We had the chorizo pasta which was average. The paneer naan was delicious but more of a lunch than dinner. We've got lasagne and curry next week.

@tuliplily I agree about the chorizo pasta. I didn’t stir it half way and some of the pasta was very crunchy and not nice

@Torvi I agree about the lamb meatballs - made them and they were bland and the sauce watery and wasn’t thick enough. The meatballs were slightly overcooked too but that was probably my fault

Doing the baked lemon and herb fish today

We had the Tofu pad prick king last night and it was amazing! Best Asian dish we've had so far!

I'm on my third box and love it, not had a duff meal so far.
