Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

I had a huge bar of Tony's chocolate once.
We got that and luckily I unpacked the box that week instead of my teenagers doing it Grin

I've had free chocolate, some plant based butter, granola and some sweets I think (some of these might have been from Hello Fresh as I rotate between them).

Wowsers, free gifts! 😁👍 There’s an option to add the file free of charge, at the end of the order form thing. I will need a new one soon, getting full!

Counting down the days until my next box... makes me realise how much I enjoy making them all. Even the shoddier methods!

Maybe I'm in the minority but we have loved the Katsu curry and the pizzas!!!

Also have had wooden spoon and big bar of chocolate - wish they'd send wine 😂😂

I’ve slipped over to mindful chef to try it out for a week or two, as we only eat free range chicken so can’t eat any of the chicken recipes on gusto and didn’t fancy much for the next few weeks. Will report back on mindful chef!

Has anyone tried it?

Just found you! Did Gousto over lockdown with a deal, stopped when it got expensive. Realised how much I liked trying new recipes so have actually paid full price for another box Blush. Chicken and apple casserole tonight!

@Foxhasbigsocks whilst not a vegetarian I prefer vegetarian dishes and always been tempted by mindful chef but think its prices than Gousto and HF. But would be interested to know how you find it. I was thinking I could swap between the two. Have gousto one week and mindful chef the next week.

Oh and I did get the folder free eventually - I think you have to look through the market goods to find it.

My sister tried Mindful Chef. She said it was lovely and the quality of meat and fish was good but it was a lot more expensive than Gousto. Think her first box was around £60 with a discount

Had the Turkish style lamb bulgar pilaf tonight and it was yummy. Spent 20 minutes looking for our casserole dish only for dh to say he got rid of it Shock so had to make it the instant pot instead but still turned out OK!
Very big potions for two of us.

I didn't think the aubergine katsu was a lot of washing up! Three pans and a bowl. And delicious!

Has anyone tried the moussaka before? I am tempted to try it but wondering if it will be a faff to make like the lasagna

The portions are huge, too. We get them for 2 as the children don't like them to be too adventurous but we do, so tonight we did crispy chilli beef and coriander noodles for us and Joes Popeye Chicken with crispy potatoes for the children. I can understand them not eating so much but we have leftovers too - usually does lunch the next day though.

Had my box delivered today and one of my recipe bags was missing and replaced with some other random bag. Don’t have all the ingredients for the chicken curry now

It is annoying as we don’t have things like cumin seeds and tamarind paste knocking around in the cupboard and they aren’t things you can easily pick up from the corner shop either!

I have just phoned them and they have said they will add some credit for my next box.

Exactly - that was the same with us. I would have had to do a 40 min round trip to Waitrose in the hope they had the right bits, with kids in tow as well!!

Not worth the hassle is it?

On a positive note, we have just had the cookstarter aubergine stir fry and it was amazing! Such lovely flavours.
