Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

What's everyone cooking this week?
I currently have the beef stroganoff pasta in the oven and the cashew noodles for tomorrow followed by Brazilian chicken curry on Friday.

bonfireheart · 07/04/2021 19:30

I had the honey mustard meat-free sausages. Really didn't like the sausages. Won't be trying that again. Also am finding that the times given on Gousto recipes are often wrong and you need to cook for much longer.

TheSuezCanalTugBoat · 07/04/2021 21:05

I've got the veggie udon, mushroom Wellington, and Brazilian curry Smile

Foxhasbigsocks · 07/04/2021 21:18

We’ve skipped a week - will look forward to hearing how everyone finds it this week

Torvi · 07/04/2021 21:19

Beef stroganoff pasta was disappointing Sad

bonfireheart · 08/04/2021 00:00

So much for the diet, cos I didn't like the sausages I ate the potatoes and greens for both servings haha. Hopefully the salmon tomorrow is nicer.

Great thread, is there a discount code I can use to order our first boxes please?

pinkchampagne1 · 08/04/2021 23:08

You are welcome to use my code for 50% off your first order and then 30% off for the rest of the month. Code is cook.gousto.co.uk/raf?promo_code=NICOL274409&utm_source=iosapp

bonfireheart · 08/04/2021 23:44

I had the black bean salmon and soy lime noodles today which were easy to make, really tasty and surprisingly filling.

Thank you, I've just ordered using your code after a very long shift!

I hope you enjoy your Gousto box. 😊 We love them. I get quite excited about getting a box delivered and trying the new recipes!
What recipes did you choose?
I have just discovered this thread myself. It’s great seeing what others have chosen and which recipes they enjoyed.

pinkchampagne1 · 09/04/2021 08:58

I nearly ordered that salmon dish myself, bonfireheart. I will look out for it next time it comes around.
I have ordered 4 meals next week including the Korean king prawn and noodle soup.

ultragroupie · 09/04/2021 13:51

Hello! Sorry if this has already been said but does everyone know there are recipes on the Gousto website?
www.gousto.co.uk/cookbook

It's the meal planning bit that gets on my wick rather than the shopping so I am just going to pick a few that I fancy from here and add to my tesco online order instead of paying for Gousto.
It does mean some investment (by me) in ingredients I might not already have but they tend to repeat across some of the recipes, ie I've just picked Chicken Date and Tamarind curry as I got tamarind sauce in for one of the other recipes a while ago.

I hope so!

I'll happily return and let you know what we think of our boxes. I'm very much ok in the kitchen and enjoy cooking, I just don't have the time in between different start times with our work right now

I've ordered the beef lasagne, salt and pepper Chinese chicken, cheesy cauliflower bake and a beef and broccoli stir fry.

I've taken advantage of the discount code for the first box and ordered 4 meals for 4 people which I'm hoping I can stretch between 3 adults all working different hours so all eating in between shifts reheating meals, I hope it works out...

I did not know this, thank you!
pinkchampagne1 · 09/04/2021 22:50

I nearly went for the salt and pepper Chinese chicken myself as I thought it looked really nice. I have had the lasagna before and we all enjoyed it.😊

Stealthynamechange · 10/04/2021 10:03

We had the tortilla topped double bean squash chilli last night - massive but absolutely delicious sharing food, we polished it off with a bottle of wine & salad 😋

If anyone wants a referral code mine is

NICOL42250257 50% Off first box & 30% first month

crumbsnamechange · 10/04/2021 10:47

I can really recommend this dish (vegetarian): so tasty!!

My referral code is cook.gousto.co.uk/raf/?promo_code=HANNA42197384&utm_source=weblink if anyone fancies 50% off their first box.

pinkchampagne1 · 10/04/2021 11:31

That looks really nice, crumbsnamechange.
We have the onion bhaji burger coming next week

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:09

Next week is Korean week :) my box is coming on 15th, looking forward to it.

pinkchampagne1 · 10/04/2021 12:12

What have you gone for, bonfireheart?
We have ordered the Korean king prawn and noodle soup, the onion bhaji burger, Cajun chicken tagliatelle and the spicy minced lamb stew Smile

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:19

I've gone for Korean fried chicken, Korean prawn and Korean Vegetable Bibimpap. And the non-Korean Haddock stew! I've noticed the week after they've got different Korean food so might become a regular thing. Gonna skip that week though, some weeks I like just having my own recipes.
The onion bhaji burger does sound lush though!

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:20

By own recipes I mean a plate of salad or a jacket potato lol, I do find the Gousto meals quite heavy and substantial so like having a break for them. I know they do salads but I refuse to pay that much for them!

Foxhasbigsocks · 10/04/2021 12:23

I’ve noticed my weight has started creeping up since we began gusto - probably more what I’m choosing than in any way their fault, though!

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:55

I look at the calories of each dish and they usually average 500-600. The Korean chicken is 900 calories!!! But I decided lockdown with no restaurants has been sad enough that I deserve it lol.
