Mumsnet Village Show - An Afternoon Tea Tray for One

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 13:46

So here we are again.

So far the rules are:

Tea tray for one

Can include anything you want suitable for a summer high tea (sandwiches, scones, cake, biscuits etc) with suitable cutlery and crockery and the like. (Silver service if you are terribly posh)

Five quid budget (on top of what you already have in your larder).

SlightlyMadScientist is the judge (heaven help us...is she properly qualified???)

Oh and all entries will be anonymous this time (A, B, C etc).

Time limit is 9pm next sunday so we can be judged before bed time.

The rules will obviously be bent or completely ignored but so long as its tea ish then anything goes.

LL can I add my thanks to the growing list

Dd's certificate came today, it is a work of art, and already taking pride of place on the fridge.
DD was so excited to have a letter addressed to her, and thrilled when I explained it was a certificate won in a virtual MNWI cupcake competition.
The mixture of pride and puzzlement was priceless

Yes, thank you very much fellow cake makers, I am feeling 100 times better.

Slubberdegullion · 01/07/2007 09:40

Sunday morning link here of the afternoon teas.

Lovingly supplied to prevent scroll fatigue

Oh and to any sunday morning lurkers...if you feel like making a scone and a sarnie this arvo, and fancy joining the exciting community of the MN WI, take a piccie, upload it onto the picture rail (lapins instructions at the start of the thread) and prepare to be tense and excited at Judgement time (21.00hrs today).

You could win a certificate to impress your RL friends with. And gain a tremendous sense of self satisfaction and well being.

Thanks slubber, am trying to summon up the energy to enter

Slubberdegullion · 01/07/2007 09:46

Oh go on chippy.

Scones in the magimix are a doddle to rustle up.

Or you could go for the 'altenative tea' catagory 2...anything teaish goes there.

OP posts:
ChippyMinton · 01/07/2007 09:49

Think it will have to be alternative tea...i cannot be bothered with baking and laying out my fancy teaplates and damask tablecloth again. Will go and rummage in the pantry (actually i don't have a pantry but it sounds suitabley MNWI does it not?)

SconesandMajesticSandwiches · 01/07/2007 13:51

Right - thank god that is over.....that bunch are a rowdy lot. I now have such a headache.........I might be stealing the Panadol from entrantB .

NOw could I ask is entry H made by a child or just for a child.....tis important for judging you know.

The judge refers to rule 3.2.6...
"Please indicate the class entered in each case (will ensure that no young children miss out on fair credit)".

Right I am off for an afternoons rest before a hard evenings judging.

EntryHGrownUpHelper · 01/07/2007 14:23

OK Mrs Judge, entry H is a child's entry. There was some grown up helper assistance as child H is 3, but the concept and most of the
'I can do it, let me do it Mumeeeeeeeeeeeee', activities were child centered.

I cannot work out how to put up "child's entry" on the album as that picture rail thing needs the patience of a Saint to work out. And If I spend much more time fiddling about with photos of scones my DH will leave me for a far less attractive but possibly slightly saner woman.

Soooooo...about the Scone

  1. Does it contain any illicit ingredients of any kind? Nope! (Like what??)
  2. Was it homebaked? Yup! (It's a Gary Rhodes recipe)
  3. If not - where did you get it...it looks rather delicious? Gee, thanks!
SconesandMajesticSandwiches · 01/07/2007 15:12

TY E

OK the judge feels totally think here - Entrant I is that Class 2 or 3? I initially thought 2, but now I am not so sure....

purplemonkeydishwasher · 01/07/2007 15:18

i texted DH to ask him to do a humourous one while i'm here at work. i didn't get a reply...
maybe if i get home early enough i'll put one in.

AND i can't get picturetrail while i'm here so i can't see all the entries! verrry annoying.

Peachy · 01/07/2007 15:19

Whats the passwords please?

SconesandMajesticSandwiches · 01/07/2007 15:29

OK, the picture trail is www.picturetrail.com/mnafternoontea - username mnafternoontea, password mumsnet. All the albums are identical, so no changing borders etc to make yours more eyecatching!!!

Peachy · 01/07/2007 16:00

Thank you most kindly X

Slubberdegullion · 01/07/2007 18:22

Does entry K have an allotment perchance.......is there allotment posturing going on here. Oh yes I think so

I know who you are K

OP posts:
Peachy · 01/07/2007 18:36

Don't think you do, for I have no allotment! Just a back garden previously owned by an old bloke

Peachy · 01/07/2007 18:37

Bugger! A UCM moment there
