Have to take something typically British to school....

...for the school summer festival we all have to bring something from our home country as there are so many different nationalities at our dc's school. I mentioned the famous cucumber sandwiches to ds's teacher but she really didn't look very impressed at all so I don't think I should do that (would be perfect and easy, loaf of bread, couple of cucumbers sliced and then cut crusts off and make triangles - they never have that sort of thing here).
I've got to produce something for dd's class and something for ds's class. Any ideas please? And we're in Berlin by the way.

Smoked salmon and cream cheese, marmite or ham and pickle sarnies, scones and jam (and cream), strawberries and cream, jam tarts, rock cakes, trifle

admylin · 25/06/2007 20:15

Wow, that was quick! Scones would be good although I've got a feeling they just won't get it. You know there are some things we love that people over here just can not understand like marmite or yorkshire pudding - but I like the scone idea, maybe shouldn't even mention it to the teacher, if I just say I'm bringing little English bready-cakey-muffiny things she'll let me write on the list.
