Who wants to enter here please. This will be fab. Now we have to find some judges. I think we should put thread in chat and ask someone to judge based on their credentials Obviously they will be only looking at a pic not tasting. We need rules as well??? Good idea or not.

I have been out for a couple of hours (god bless America for giving DH the shite)

Where are we at?

BTW there will be a fabby prize from me. I am willing to donate a prize.

I will be making a rosette and also there will be blardy prize, not telling what but I am sure the recipient will enjoy it.

When I say giving DH the shite, I mean the absolute shite that he watches on cable. It's dreadful.

UCM · 13/06/2007 22:43

8 inches I think, >

I will turn my back and make the rosette in my craft room.

I'm in VSC is my least favourite cake but DP likes it and it is fathers day, if i take a picture of it in the garden do I get extra points for including my lovely lupins in the photo?

UCM · 13/06/2007 23:27

MrsCake will decide on the presentation and stuff.

OP posts:
UCM · 13/06/2007 23:38

You can make your cake in a 7 inch (177mm) or an 8 inch tin (223mm).

We do not care but the presentation can be different as long as you put a pic of your cake plus another one with a slice showing, so MrsCake can define whether you are a proper show off or a blinding cake maker!!

Will making mine with french ingredients and calling it a quatre quatre earn me extra brownie points or merit deduction for pretentiousness......

ggg, obviously MrsCake will be dolling out the points, but I sense that a strong french emphasis on your Victoria (ie Great British Monarch), Sponge Cake will result in a lowering of your overall marks.

But by all means...be original, display it on a Tricolor...see where it gets you .

purplemonkeydishwasher · 14/06/2007 12:44

have we decided when we are going to do the actual baking? (obviously i can't be bothered to look through the thread to find the answer!)

shergar · 14/06/2007 12:53

I'd like to play too please! I will check back for final rules later. I don't know how to attach photos here, but can make an album on Photobox and link you all in.

UCM · 14/06/2007 14:31

I have taken the liberty of setting up an album for cakes. Please use this or use your profile

Go here the member name is MNCakeComp and the password is Mumsnet (what else really)

OP posts:
UCM · 14/06/2007 14:32

Actually you have to go to Login and then username is MNCakeComp and password is mumsnet

NIce one UCM.
purplemonkwasher (LOL your name is too darn long) i think i saw deadline was sunday night. But TBH i think this might be a bit tight as some of us are planning to bake on sunday under the guise of a fathers day treat (i'm doing it as BIL birthday cake). Faffing about with photos might be a bit much on sunday night.
Thoughts?

GrooveisintheHeart · 14/06/2007 16:39

i am a namechanger (Mdee) so am in for this one. will catch up later

SlightlyMadScientist · 14/06/2007 17:51

Can we do this again at a later date?

I would love to join in but Sun is too tight a deadline and I would only join if we were allowed some kind of cream cos a cake isn't a cake without some kind of cream

Actually - you may jest. I did consider half with cream and half without and just make sure I photograph it from teh right angles . Then have a pot of butter cream which could be spread on as it is eaten

Except DP will think I am mad - or will her think I am blatantly mad for entering a cake baking competion online?

But I reckon if the remainder of the cake is of such exceptional quality the marks I loose for adding cream will still leave me head and shoulders above you lot
