Who wants to enter here please. This will be fab. Now we have to find some judges. I think we should put thread in chat and ask someone to judge based on their credentials Obviously they will be only looking at a pic not tasting. We need rules as well??? Good idea or not.

Well, I think that we need criteria for photos - e.g. submit 3 pics: top, side and internal shots so that it could be hard to fake as recipe books only have one photo.

Bit worried by deadline date. Will try and get some practice in tonight as DH is out and is also rather disparaging of MN.

Slubberdegullion · 13/06/2007 13:05

I think in addition to the photos of the VSC itself (and I agree with top, sides and within Pennies), and the manner in which it has been displayed, we should also include shots (or at least details) of equipment used, outfit/apron worn whilst baking, musical accompliment etc.

Then if your cake it a total hideous disaster (like my MkIII: The Nigella), then at least you will gain marks for effort, use of good British products, originality etc.

yes, silly question LL.

Do the French do the village show?

Obviously someone is going to come along soon and tell me, yes of course they do the village show you complete fool.

I think higher points should be awarded for for demonstration of pride of one's Nation.

Chippy, what the hell are you planning on baking woman...30 eggs.

No prizes for size in this comp dear.

casbie · 13/06/2007 14:26

ooh, prize...

although i'm all for

....going down in a blaze of glory...

glory and maybe a nice rosette?

Pennies · 13/06/2007 14:31

Just realised the 17th is Father's Day - thereby giving an excellent ruse to use for DH's / Dps if they question the fervent baking activity that seems likely to take place in many kitchens this weekend! "Darrrrrling it's for youoooo because you're such a GREAT dad" etc etc ad nauseam.

casbie · 13/06/2007 14:36

feel really bad now - made hubby promise to be up a ladder on sunday painting the house...

well, at least he gets a cake out of it!!

Rosa · 13/06/2007 14:47

I wonder if I have time to make the jam as well before the 17th ?????

UCM · 13/06/2007 15:27

Ok, a few tweaks to the basic rules. You can have either caster or icing sugar on top and you can use whatever jam you like as long as it's red looking.

I think a picture of the cake taken in your garden is one of the best ways to display it, then as in the blog on the other thread, cut a slice and photograph that as well. But of course, indoors is good, providing you have lots of light.

MrsCake will have to be a bit psychic and imagine unless she wants loads of cake posted to her

I can't possibly imagine that anyone would cheat as we are all so good and wholesome on here. However, I have just been to M&S, note to self, must remember not to have the box in the background of the photo

OP posts:
ChippyMinton · 13/06/2007 15:45

might make this with my 30 eggs

aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

slipping into another VSC nightmare again.

SlightlyMadScientist · 13/06/2007 20:53

Silly question alert!!!!

What is the difference between 4442 and 6663 - other than the fact that the latter will make a bigger cake

Slubberdegullion · 13/06/2007 21:07

Nowt, same cake but must use different tins(to avoid 'the biscuit').

Slubberdegullion · 13/06/2007 21:09

444&2 in 18cm tin, 666&3 in 20cm tin.

I think.

kickassangel · 13/06/2007 22:29

slubber how very dare you - you're using NEW MONEY! how can you ever expect to win if you don't use inches?
kka wanders away shaking head in sad & disappointed manner
