Goats cheese is gorgeous added to a tomato sauce served with spaghetti!

TootyFrooty · 29/05/2007 14:11

I love goats cheese but can see it might be a bit marmitey. Love it or hate it and all that.

sorry I like it and so do the kids! First time DS ate cheese was goats cheese - the soft white stuff - like slightly sour cream cheese really.

expatinscotland · 29/05/2007 14:13

It doesn't bother me at all and it's kept me from developing a taste for rich, fat-laden dishes.

expatinscotland · 29/05/2007 14:14

No, that's why my Dad can eat it - he's WAY lactose intolerant, he even has to drink black coffee.

But what being lactose intolerant did for me was put me off the taste of basically all creamy/cheesy/buttery foods.

it is revolting isn't it

it's like eating a normal piece of cheese, and then a goat wanders in and wipes its sweaty bollocks on the back of your tongue

Quite right, F&Z! Even the smell's enough to induce a vomitting spell.

BettySpaghetti · 29/05/2007 14:20

pmsl at F&Z!

I spent 2 wks if France about 6 yrs ago staying in Chambre d'hotes (sp?) with DP,DD and IL's.

I'm vegetarian and every bloody meal in every bloody place was bloody Goat's Cheese.

Its only now, 6 yrs later than I can face eating it again (or at least I could until I read Franny's description )

hjscho · 29/05/2007 14:23

I felt like you F&Z at first...just smelling the stuff was like sniffing a goat. After living in France, I now love it. It was the first 'off limits' thing I ate once I had both children. I eat it warm on salad leaves, but sounds good on red onion marmelade Poptot.

nally · 29/05/2007 14:23

goats cheese - yum!

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 14:24

yes Betty that is the worst of it, every smart restaurant thinks it is quite the thing to have as their vegetarian option

nauseating

even driving past a farm with a goat on it makes me want to heave - what makes them smell so RANK? It can't be right

MamaG · 29/05/2007 14:24

Strangely, Franny, I had you down as my "Mner most likely to eat goats cheese"

cremolafoam · 29/05/2007 14:25

i have just learnt how to make goats cheese and it is the greatest thing ever.
it's lovely mamag. even nicer if it is wrapped in nettles! lol

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 14:25

well you were WRONG WRONG WRONG

goats cheese and olives - Satan's smeggy arse and Satan's fetid droppings

contentiouscat · 29/05/2007 14:26

Like eating olives and drinking G & T it makes you look sophisticated despite tasting like shit.

TootyFrooty · 29/05/2007 14:26

I'm the same with camels. Just looking at them on tv (or in ds2's animal book) makes me heave.

[voms at thought of camel's cheese]

americantrish · 29/05/2007 14:26

it's my favourite kind of cheese! that's why!!!

ROFL!!! pissy nettles!!!

TinyGang · 29/05/2007 14:27

Rofl at Franny

I must have tried it but I can't rememeber it. (How could I have forgotten given Franny's descrition!)

I'm sure they were talking about goats cheese and milk being too 'goaty' on the radio the other day.

tortoiseSHELL · 29/05/2007 14:27

Ooh I love goats cheese.

Goats cheese and red pepper quiche - yummmmy!

Or my favourite salad I make - lettuce, cucumber, avocado, goats cheese and hot bacon (which melts the goats cheese. Can also put toasted pine nuts in. Delicious!

Mamamoor · 29/05/2007 14:27

Cos I'm cow's milk intolerant and goats mild/cheese is more easily digestible for me. However, that being said you have to choose your cheese carefully cos some of it is vile and it's probably not something I would choose as a starter!

contentiouscat · 29/05/2007 14:27

I LOVE camels wouldnt eat their cheese though
